As Angelo's cousin I only really got to know Ange in the last few months of his life.  We were able to go on a cruise with him and other family members.  Ange was in pain much of the time but what a wonderful time we had with him.  His sense of humor was contagious and unpredictable. He was too weak to walk more that a few yards, but he would get on his scooter - exploring the ship, visiting the ports, keeping tabs on his mother and the rest of us.  And he ate and ate and ate.  It was a true gift to all of us to be able to spend 5 full days in his prescence.
Angelo was always concerned about the needs of others.  He saw Jesus in everyone he met.  Even in the last week of his life he showed more concern for others than for himself.  He wanted to be sure his mother was alright.  He always enjoyed the "dollar store" peaches she brought him each day.  He knew that made her happy, but he really liked them too.  He loved the visits of his cousin Joseph.  They would speak to each other in sign language.  Over the years Ange had taken the time to learn sign language because he had a special place in his heart for my brother Joseph.
On Christmas Day he was unbelievably weak, but with great fortitude he got on his Mother's scooter, crossed the road and visited Aunt Aggie, Uncle Sam and Joseph.
The words "thank you" were always on his lips.  How grateful he was to Teresa for making him smile, for helping him communicate with his beloved daughter Nicole, for bringing him an Arby's roast beef,  for the spiritual comfort she brought him and those around him.
Ange loved children.  In those last days he asked my grandchildren to visit. When Joseph, Sofia, and Matthew would visit his face would light up and he would give a High 5.  They would give him hugs.  Little Matthew gave him a big hug and then laid his head in Ange's lap.  Matthew knows goodness when he sees it.

Most of all Ange loved his daughter Nicole.  He would tell me how proud he was of her many accomplishments.  How she was excelling at D'Youville College and even working at the same time.  He told me of her independence and her intelligence, of her strength and goodness.  He told me how secure he was in her love and she in his.  On the day he died a picture of Nicole and Corey was before his eyes.  It was a very hard day, but when he gazed at that picture he smiled.

I was so saddened when I heard the news. I had just talked to you it feels like. You never gave an impression that the end was so near....I guess that was just like you. I will always remember you making me my favorite peanut butter cookies at work. You will be greatly missed, but you're with your son now. God bless you Angelo.

Ange loved to cook!

Pasta Teresa

1 bulb..not clove..garlic chopped
small-med. onion chopped
olive oil....bout1/4cup or little less
fresh broccoli..2cups slight chopped
pasta..I like cut ziti..1lb
salt,pepper
good romano cheese (grated)

Cook pasta in heavily salted boiling water in large pot until 1/2 cooked ...just starting to be limp.....then add fresh chopped broccoli..continue boiling and stirring till pasta is done..broccoli should be done by this time.. drain in strainer..now in same pot add olive oil (I use extra virgin)...get oil hot and add chopped garlic and onion..saute till almost browned then add pasta/broccoli mix and keep stirring...its ok if broccoli breaks up a bit ..in fact break it up some!!! add a little more oil if it seems a little dry cause the pasta will absorb some of the oil..sometimes I add a little butter at this point to give it a slightly creamy texture...add freshly grated cheese, pepper and salt to taste..you can add stuff like cooked chicken pieces or cooked shrimp at this point or its great by its self... I add tons of romano!!! ENJOY!!

P.S. you can add more or less pasta or broccoli, onion, garlic whatever have fun with it!

Stufffed Hot (or mild) Banana Peppers Ala Ange

January 2, 2011

I made the stuffing for the peppers on wednesday 7/22 on camera in retreat and people were asking for the recipe, so here it is!
6 large cloves garlic minced
1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs(store brand)
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
6 ounces cream cheese (softened.. I microwaved it for 30 seconds)
3 tablespoons of shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
4 ounces gorgonzola or blue cheese - crumbled coarsely -
place ingredients in bowl and mix well...I used a dinner fork...add more olive oil if needed.....it should have the consistency of a moist turkey stuffing!! I then refrigerated it while i prepared my peppers:
cut off 1/4 inch (or less) of stem end of pepper
using the tip of knife, make a slit lenght wise from top to tip
make another slit about 1/4 inch (or less) parallel to it
using your finger and running water scrape out seeds & pith
spread it open quite a bit and run water through it
now take stuffing and proceed to fill peppers ...i have pictures of finished peppers..just ask me and ill post them some how..... I them placed them on a sheet tray in a preheated oven...400 degrees F drizzled with olive oil..and baked them for 20 min. stuffing side up!! thats all...any questions?? please let me know by PM i can explain in more detail and give you pictures too!! ange \0/

Birthday party at the cancer center

January 1, 2011

Ange had to have chemo on his 51st birthday so I took balloons, gifts and candy to him at the New Hope Cancer Center. I called ahead and told the nurses it was his birthday so practically everyone in the place stopped by to wish him a happy birthday. A nurse even sang Happy Birthday to him backwards (I'll let you figure that one out), and many of the other cancer patients joined in with birthday greetings. Ange always took the time to encourage other patients, and to express his gratitude toward his doctors and nurses. He even took donuts for the nurses when he went for his chemo treatments. He never wasted a chance to show his appreciation for the people God brought into his life.

Praiseman Ange!

Ange loved playing with the program that came with his webcam and was always making us laugh with the pictures he broadcast in Christianityoasis. This picture is just perfect because he LOVES singing worship songs and the music just pours out of him. I know he's having a wonderful time in heaven singing his heart out. Can't wait to see him there!

My Angelo

December 31, 2010

My heart is broken today, hearing the loss of this great man. Angelo and I worked for his cousin at Scimes. Angelo would come up in the front were I cashed out.. We would start laughing so hard just by looking at each other. Angelo, was always there for me, with a smile or a hug. He truly is a special person. I went to his sons funeral, we embrassed each other like old times, even thou we have not seen each other in a long time. Then we caught up again on Facebook..Reading his inspiration were truly an insight for me, he was a hero even at the end of his life, Always thinking of others before himself. Angelo, You have your wings, go find your son, may your new journey bring you the happiness you deserve. I ll never forget you !!!  Rest in peace..xoxoxoxo  Love you, Franci

Ange was an amazing man of God. Even in his pain he praised Jesus and lifted others up!! I do not know many people who r able to do that!!  He was so willing and ready to help others.  When we were both having a down day we would end u making each other smile some how and I thank Jesus for those times!!  He would always sing amazing grace for me if i asked him to....even if he was having a rough day....i think it helped him/lifted his spirit to sing to!!

I remember when he did a cooking class through webcam and i watched him make zucchini bread (it felt so real i could almost smell the bread yummmmy!!) and he made stuffed peppers (not so yummy lol)!!

He was a real trooper and my hero!!

See you in heaven bro!!
