Addie, great pictures of your Mom and your family. What wonderful memories she created and is part of. I wish I had had the opportunity to get to know her better. From her written words, pictures and the words you have communicated about her, she sounds like a loving and caring Mom and Grandma. Please know that you and your Family are our prayers for peace and comfort.

Addy and Chris, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I often wondered if she still lived in Sanford. I remember her always smiling and being so jovial.  I will keep both of you and your families in my prayers. Lorraine Hedrick (St. Helen School)

Nursing Education and Career

Vic obtained her nursing diploma from Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing in 1974.  Chamberlain School of Nursing provided Vic with both her BSN and then MSN with a focus in Healthcare Informatics in 2014.
She worked as a registered nurse in a variety of interesting and challenging roles, including bedside care and management of departments in Morocco, China, Hawaii, Illinois, West Virginia and Michigan.  Vic believed that her priorities were God, family, work - which included family, friends and colleagues in three continents.
Four decades as a registered nurse led Vic to develop a privately-owned business focused on education and advocacy for people caught in the ever-changing healthcare world of unknowns. That private business was started in 2013 with the mission to advocate and educate healthcare consumers by eliminating confusion and providing clarity through education.
Most recently, she joined SmartcareDoc as V.P. of Clinical Strategies and was an Administrative Manager at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, MI.

Vic-ism-13 - Put on Your Big Girl Pants

Shared by Adele Ice-King on October 25, 2019
Whenever I needed my mom to give me encouragement or a little boost of confidence, I’d tell her what was going on, she’d listen with an understanding heart and unconditional patience - like I was the only thing that mattered (even if she was busy with 100 other things).   She’d simply tell me she understood, loved me and knew everything would be okay, better than okay.   Then, and I love this, she’d say: “Little girl, don’t focus on the negatives and worry about things you can’t control, see it as done, put on your big girl pants, and go do it.”

Vic's Favorite Quotes and Inspiration

Shared by Adele Ice-King on August 21, 2019
While looking through my memory box, I came across a document my mom created and gave me several years ago entitled "Favorite Quotes and Inspiration," and I want to share it because, since her death, I've been asking her to talk to me, help me, tell me what to do, etc.  I realized I just needed to listen longer and remember more.
 - Celebrate our differences
 - Don't let someone else rent space in your head
 - That's the worst I think, when a secret stays locked within not for the want of a teller, but for the want of an understanding ear.  (Stephen King)
 - Some people come into our lives and quickly go.  Others stay awhile, make footprints on our heart and we are never, ever the same.
 - Forgiveness is the release of all hope for a better past
 - I would like to be in a relationship with someone as crazy as me, so I can STOP explaining myself
 - Courage doesn't always roar.  Sometimes, courage is the little voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."
 - Life is a dance when you take the steps
 - Words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless (goes for good or abusive words)
 - We tend to see things not as they are, but see them as who we are
 - Death is not the greatest loss in life.  The greatest loss is what dies inside of you while you are alive and not being true to yourself.
 - Destiny is not a matter of chance.  It is a matter of choice.  It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.
 - To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance
 - Courage is the power to let go of the familiar, and let your curiosity take you on a journey
 - One of the secrets of life is to make stepping stones out of stumbling blocks
 - It you let go of the past instead of getting in it, your heart will be open and ready to receive the new gifts life has in store
 - When people really listen to what we are saying, we feel that they really care.  In fact, you could say, listening is love in action.
 - I could complain the rosebush has thorns or rejoice the thorn bush has a rose
 - The only person who is truly free, is the one who can say "no" without an excuse
 - Anxiety is the space between the "NOW" and the "THEN"
 - Try something new three times.  Once, to get over the fear of something new; twice, to learn to do it; and third, to decide whether or not you like it.
 - Finish every day and be done with it.  Life is too short to waste a moment on the yesterdays.
 - We worry who a child will be tomorrow, yet we forget that they are someone today
 - Yes, risk taking is inherently failure prone; otherwise, it would be called "sure-thing taking."
 - Goals that are not written down and committed to usually become mere wishes
 - To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are
