We had been friends with Anita for about 30 years, and Gayle had been friends since early childhood. I found her to be a refreshing voice. She and I found common ground on most subjects that we discussed. She had the fortitude of a giant, and seldom backed down. She and Alvin were a perfect match, and she was an asset in the business that they enjoyed and loved. She will be missed by me and Gayle. Her image and thoughts will always be in our minds and hearts. Hillman and Gayle CurrinOctober 18, 2011
Remembering
There are so many memories I have of Anita that will stay with me for my lifetime. I posted this on my facebook page a few days ago and will share it on this memorial site honoring her memory:
In the fall of 2010, we had the pleasure of spending a weekend in the beautiful Virginia mountains with Anita and Al. In addition to the beautiful scenery and the many laughs we shared over the weekend, there were two extra special things we did. We ate at the Peaks of Otter and visited the campus of Virginia Tech. The memorial to the students and faculty that lost their lives that day in April... 2007, especially touched Anita's heart. The compassion she felt for them and their loved ones was phenomenal. I saved the brochure "We Remember" because it really hits the nail on the head about how we feel about those we love who leave us.
We Remember Them
In the rising of the sun and its going down,
We Remember Them.
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter,
We Remember Them.
In the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring,
We Remember Them.
In the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn,
We Remember Them.
In the beginning of the year and when it ends,
We Remember Them.
When we are weary and in need of strength,
We Remember Them.
When we are lost and sick of heart,
We Remember Them.
When we have joys and special celebrations we yearn to share,
We Remember Them.
So long as we live, they too shall live, for they are part of us,
As We Remember Them.
