I dont have a particular story to share, just that I regret that we didnt have a closer relationship sooner than in our adulthood. We always met up on the road to, or at my Aunt Darlenes for family reunions in Indiana. We loved to sit around the table or out on the deck, chatting, sharing, and laughing, sometimes to tears. Family and food were the main focus, we could never get enough of Darlenes home cooking, and our main job was to go out and gather enough berries for the cobbler. This was always a goal for Annie, to visit "the farm" during berry picking season, and I believe she went nearly every summer.

There are some smells, words, or activities that we connect with people on. Berry pie is one of those for me and Anne.

Annie had a spectacularly creative way with words and sayings. I once told her I was having sleep issues, and so often she would ask me how my "sleepy shoes" were doing. Wish I could remember them all, it was brilliantly sweet and funny.

Ann went to a reunion in Oregon several years ago, and her and I did a hike up the Butte near my house. We sat atop of the mountain, and really connected amidst the beautiful nature surrounding us,  I cherish that time. She always seemed most comfortable surrounded by natures beauty.

Annies intelligence, down to earth attitude, quirky sense of humor, bright, blue eyes and fantastic red hair, along with her willing smile will remain in my heart always.
