On January 15, 2021, Anna D. Pasley, neé Giselbach, age 94, went home to be with the Lord. Beloved wife of the late Charles E. Pasley (1925-1993), loving mother of Rev. Father Robert C. Pasley K.C.H.S, David and his wife Dianne, the late Carol Pasley Maddaloni, and the late James A. Pasley. Grandmother of Alexander and his wife Jessica, and Rachel. Sister of Felix Gizelbach and his wife Vilma, Terofil Gizelbach, the late Joseph Gizelbach, Jenny Johnson, Stella Romiti, Leo Gizelbach, Walter Gizelbach, Helen Verdugo, Edward Gizelbach, and Theodore Gizelbach.

Anna was born in 1926, at home in Williamstown, New Jersey, to Alexander Gizelbach and Eva Biedrzycki, both of whom were immigrants to America from Poland. After the Great Depression, the family moved to Grenloch, New Jersey, where Anna grew up. She was the third youngest of eleven children. Life was tough, but they all chipped in and made it work.

She married Charles E. Pasley on February 7, 1953. They resided in Blackwood, then Cooper Village in Deptford, then in Woodbury Heights for fifty years. Anna was a homemaker who ran a warm, happy, clean and welcoming home. Charles, her husband, often joked that if he lived longer than her, he was going to put a vacuum cleaner in her casket. She rejoiced at the Ordination of her son Robert to the sacred priesthood, she was overjoyed by the marriages of David to Dianne, and Carol to John, and she was thrilled by the birth of her two grandchildren Alex and Rachel.  After Charles died in 1993, the companion of her life became her son, James Pasley, who was born with Down’s Syndrome.  Jimmy was proud to say that he was now “the man of the house.” Anna took care of Jimmy without ever a moment’s hesitation. She never questioned God’s will. Jimmy was her son and her duty, and that’s all there was to it. They were the dynamic duo, driving all over South Jersey together. 

Anna was a volunteer at Saint John of God in Westville Grove, and she was a devoted member of Mater Ecclesiae Latin Mass Parish in Berlin, New Jersey, where everybody loved her. Her faith was real, practical and not showy. She was happiest when she was around her family. She had a wonderful life, filled with joy and health. She never questioned her sufferings, she never said why me. She just plunged in the next day, and God would work things out.

Anna died a happy death. She received Extreme Unction, Absolution, the Apostolic Indulgence and Pardon. She died in the Lord, surrounded by Our Lady and the Saints. Well done, good and faithful servant. Mom, Requiescat in Pace!

All ceremonies will take place on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Mater Ecclesiae Roman Catholic Church, 261 Cross Keys Road, Berlin, NJ 08009, www.materlatin.org.  A public viewing will take place from 9:45AM until 10:45AM.  A Latin Requiem Mass will begin at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Mater Ecclesiae Roman Catholic Church Sacred Music Fund.  Blessed are they who die in the Lord!

Anna was always a lovely woman.  I never saw her without a smile.  Life was good for her everyday.  She is with God now...Rest in Peace.
