Annabel Skovgaard Welander, age 86, of Fremont passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Nye Pointe.

She was born October 15, 1928, in Grand Rapids, ND to Andrew and Mabel (Mart) Skovgaard.  She graduated from LaMoure High School in 1946 and later became an accredited medical records technician.  She married Marvin Welander of Fullerton, ND and they farmed in Dickey County.  In 1952 they moved to Nebraska with their three children.  Ann worked as the Director of Medical Records at FAMC.  After her divorce, she volunteered for a year through Lutheran World Relief in Chiang Mai, Thailand where she assisted in developing medical records' proceedures for McCormick Hospital.  Upon her return to the states, she moved to Des Moines, IA where she worked for Iowa Hospital Association for five years.  Ann then moved to Omaha and worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield for ten years.  After moving back to Fremont, she worked as a Office Manager for Dr. William Eaton.  Ann was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids, ND.  She attended church regularly, taught Sunday School, served in women's organizations and sang in the choir.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and two brothers.

She is survived by her two sons Rod (Carolyn) Welander of Fremont, and Darrell (Annette) Welander of Fremont, daughter, Sharon Miley of Omaha, one sister Ellen Ness of Hartford, Wisconsin, seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, and a very special friend, William B. Eaton.
