Annamae Melville

June 15, 2014

Melville, Annamae Marguerite Deemer, born March 12, 1932 to Robert J and Mary Grace Deemer in Aspinwall, PA went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2014.  The third of six children, she grew up in Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Melville, daughter, Rita Grabigel and brother, Robert J. Deemer, Jr.

She is survived by her sisters, Audrey Carney, Lois Oester, Shirley Smith, Barbara Pastos, her children and their families: Norma Jean Landers, Margaret Mary Weir, Dianna Lynn Angle, Benjamin Joel Melville, Frederick Melville, Jr., Alice Mae Reed, and Lois Ann Rodriquez, 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Annamae loved God. Even as a young child she always turned to Him in prayer for advice and comfort. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Ana for 45 years, serving in many capacities from Sunday school teacher, fellowship, bereavement and deacon.

Annamae was a retired Librarian with the Santa Ana Unified School District. Her lifelong interests include gardening, sewing, music, board games and children.  Annamae loved children, and children loved her. For the past 12 years she has been an assistant in Alice’s first grade classroom teaching sight words, singing songs, playing games and especially baking chocolate chip cookies once a month with students that were Super Citizens. Another special gift of Annamae’s was passionately making comfort bears out of beloved one’s clothes.  She had made over 350 comfort bears.   She also hosted a Scrabble Club, Bunco Club and led the Dorcas Quilting Circle at her church, which create hand sewed baby quilts.  But her greatest delight was with her family, children, grandchild and great-grandchildren.
