Her Life and Legacy.

January 14, 2015

Deaconess (Mrs) Anne Juoin Johnnie (Nee Soibibo) was born on the 13th of January 1951 to Chief David Iwowari Soibibo and Madam Evelyn Amakiri Alayemieka Soibibo of Bileme, Okirika in Rivers State, Nigeria. She was the last child of David and Evelyn Soibibo.

Anne was more or less an early bird child in her educational career.  She started her primary education before the mandatory school going age at Girls School Okrika.  Anne was a very studious and brilliant child in her time.  She finished her primary education in 1963 and further went to Anglican Girls Secondary School, Ovim, which is part of present day Abia State.  Unfortunately, the Nigerian Civil War broke out in 1967.  As a result, all schools were closed down.

Having survive the ravages of a wartorn region, the then Rivers State was liberated in 1968 by the Federal forces.  In her usual quest for good education, the young Anne was admitted to continue her secondary education in class three, at the then famous Holy Rosary Girls Secondary School, Port Harcourt in 1968.  Anne successfully completed her secondary school education in 1972.

Because Rivers State at that time was amongst the least developed, as a result of the Nigerian Civil War, the then young Anne Soibibo joined the Rivers State Civil Service in her teens.  She got married at a very tender age to the then Mr. Palmer Balafamo Johnnie, now Professor P. B. Johnniein 1977.  (Both were in their very early twenties).  Her marriage to Professor P. B. Johnnie took both of them to the United Kingdom.  Anne returned to Nigeria with her beloved husband in 1981 and was immediately re-absorbed into the Rivers State Civil Service.

Not done with child bearing and the acquisition of higher intellectual knowledge, Anne decided to further her education.  Mrs Johnnie successfully completed her BSc degree with a 2nd Class Upper Division, in Management and an MBA degree with specialization in Management from Nigeria's premier University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt.

Mrs Anne Johnnie was a very fine and committed manager who rose to a senior management position in the Rivers State Civil Service and retired seven (7) years before the compulsory retirement age of sixty (60)

Anne Johnnie was an extremely devoted wife, a true mother and grandmother.  To her grandchildren she was one in a million. To her children she was one in a billion. To her husband she was one in a zillion.  She is simply irreplaceable.

Anne Johnnie served the Lord with the whole of her body, soul and spirit.  In her local church, she was the cynosure of all eyes.  She served in several groups in the church.  She was appointed Head of the Children's Church because of her level of committment to the serice of God.  She left very indelible marks in the minds and hearts of her "church children".  her committment and zeal in the vineyard of the Lord, made the church - Salvation Ministries (Home of Success), to ordain her as a Deacon.

Anne Johnnie was an extremely committed person and lived her life  in accordance with the precepts and principles as enunciated in the Holy Bible. Anne was so committed to the cause of the poor and needy and practised the act of giving with finite regularity.

Anne was the model wife, a loving mother and grandmother, irreplaceable sister, aunt, cousin and in-law.  She was a friend to all that she came across in life. Anne Juoin Johnnie passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014 after a brief illness.
