Prayer at the Flagpole

September 16, 2015

It was September 11, 2001, at 8:45 a.m. and we were told a plane collided into the World  Trade Center.  We turned on the news and we then saw another plane tear into the second building. I then said, this is no accident, we are under attack. I told Annette and Lisa to shut down the phones, "it's  time to Pray".   With no regard of Church or State, we gathered into my office and all three offered up to God a communication that I know reached Heaven.   All of the students in the Alternative School walked silently into the cafeteria, and sat with their teachers.    Some cried, some were very scared, even bewildered,  some asked if we were going to be blown up as well.  Annette, Rev. Black and I gathered the students " around the Flagpole"  and with young, old, Black, White,  Crips, Bloods, and Folks, linking hands asking God to wrap his loving arms of protection around us, and heal this land.

There are stories since the day I arrived at Fairmount/ Dowdelll that I shall never forget....that she has been part of...Some made us laugh and some made us cry.......

Annette was my FRIEND, GOOD FRIEND,a lover of life, a devout Christian sister, a LOVER of GOD, one who knew her destination.  God allowed me to be blessed by our acquaintence.   She will forever be in my heart...

Annette, to GOD be the GLORY!

Love you......Sylvia
