Annie was born on December 12th, 1949.  Her Parents were Don and Joan Barber. When she was 16, she worked for a company called Marconi's.  That was a company heavily involved in breaking the German codes during the war. Her role, other than standing around looking beautiful, was working on PC Boards. Her claim to fame was being the "Model" for England's first color TV, in 1963-64. Also,  in 1968-9 some of the PC Boards she built went on our mission to the moon in 1969.  Ann and I met in early 1971 at Wethersfield, England.  We were married in March of 1972 in Chelmsford, Essex, England.  Annie started dabbling in the Antique trade in 1979, and became a master at her craft in the early 1980's.  In 1991, she started her first small business, A & B Estate Sales.  She was very successful, and well known in Wichita, Kansas as well as the Southeast of England where she got her start. In 2006, along with her estate sales business, she opened up a 2100 sq. ft. antique shop.  Abbey Antiques and Collectibles.  That was wildly successful too.  Life was good for Annie and me, as I had a 24 year career in the USAF.  We were living the American dream.  Then, out of the darkness came a dreadful cancer.  We went from having it all, to an out of control lifestyle in just one day~June 19th, 2008, when she was diagnosed with a cancer that is not considered survivable. Since that dreadful and devastating day, my life has evolved around three words.  "Because of Annie."  Annie was a great humanitarian, and in the early days of our journey through cancer, I started trying to see the world through her eyes.  One of compassion, and love for all. I had to learn the hard way, watching her and others suffer excruciating pain. I was Annie's 24/7 caregiver and rarely left her side.  Now, my passion is leaving her legacy through her story, and helping others. Note:  This picture is of Annie and her sister Wendy who preceeded her in death~with cancer. They were always like two peas in a pod.  Annie is the Blond bringing up the rear.  That was the 60's when Annie was working at Marconi's.
