Her Life
December 29, 2012

Annie Ruth Brown Clements was born November 11, 1940 in Troup County, Georgia to John Norman and Lue Willie Brown.  She departed this life on December 26, 2012. Her parents preceded her in death.  She attended school through the Troup County School System graduating high school from Kight High School in LaGrange. She joined St. Mary United Methodist Church at an early age.

At a church function in the St. Marks Community during April of 1955, she met the love of her life, James A. after he had just returned home from the Army.  After the untimely death of her father, it was her mother’s wish that each of her children continue with post secondary education and she attended Albany State College in Albany, Georgia. After college, the two were united in holy matrimony on July 3, 1961 in a small ceremony at the home of her mother.  To this great union, the blessed birth of James C (Skip) and Tonya consummated the family.  James and Annie celebrated 50 years of marriage in July of 2011 the affectionate theme, ‘A Lifetime of Love’.

She devoted over 40 years of service in communication and customer service retiring in 2002 from Piedmont-Newnan Hospital with over 25 years of service.  Mrs. Annie, as she was known, always had a smile and a kind word to those that she encountered daily.  After retirement, boredom at home caused her to return to the hospital in a part-time capacity, greeting those once that entered the doors at the hospital with her trademark smile and wave.

At the time of her demise, she was a shepherd mother at Triumph Holiness Church in Hogansville, Georgia where she has been a faithful member for over 45 years.  She dedicated herself to always serving others as family and friends could always receive a good country meal and grandmotherly nurturing.  She assumed the role as mother, god mother and grandmother to many.  She often boasted about her children and her pride and joy, her grandchildren.

She leaves to mourn her lifelong soul mate, James A; son, Minister, Major James C. (Englysha), (United States Army-Fort Stewart, Georgia); daughter, Tonya (Fayetteville, Georgia); four grandchildren: Sanchez (Jazmane), D’Ante, Khiry and Jamesia.  She leaves her siblings to cherish: Dorothy Cameron, Rev. John (Cynthia) Brown, Mattie (Lawrence) Lamar, Rev. Charles (Virginia) Brown, Glen (Tamekia  ) Brown and Mary (Samuel) Bryant; brother-in-laws, Earnest Clements, Jr., Willie L. Clements, and Bishop Nelson (Shirley) Clements; sister-in-law, Gloria Hunter.  She leaves two god children; Gwendolyn Godfrey and Jermaine Barlow, a devoted friend Yolanda Clements, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
