Annie Bennett Gay Long, 85, left this life on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Duke Hospital. She was the daughter of Carter and Ada Gay of Seaboard, NC. Trained as a registered nurse specializing in psychiatric patients, she came to Butner in 1967 to work for John Umstead Hospital. She retired after 30 years of service to the State of North Carolina. Annie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Butner.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Marvin C. Long of Butner; one daughter, Anne Gay and son-in-law, Joseph M. Crews; a grandson, J. Matthew Crews all of Creedmoor and her Boston Terrier, Mattie Cee of Butner.
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 2:00 PM in Seaboard Cemetery in Seaboard, NC.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Annie’s memory to a charity of your choosing.
Visitation will be held Friday evening, November 16, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and other times at the home.
Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor is in charges of arrangements.
