A native of Columbus born on April 18, 1948, Annie was the daughter of the late Albert Edmond and Annie W. Grant Powell. A life-long resident of Columbus, she was a 1966 graduate of William H. Spencer High School and was currently attending Kaplan University. She was a member of World Changes Tabernacle and the famed Spencerians.

She had been employed as a CNA at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Albert Edmond Jr, Aaron Powell and Geraldine Powell

Surviving are two children, Tiffoney Joyi Gaines and Jon Michael McKinney(Jetaime); five grandchildren, Ashley and Joshua Johnson, Justin and Jaylen Gaines and Ethan McKinney; one great grandchild, Jaireus J. Johnson; four brothers, Willie J. Edmond, Lenford Powell, Reginald Powell and Pastor Prathan Powell(Sandy); two sisters, Mary L. Lewis(Charles) and Wendale "Wendy" Powell-Walker(Felix); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
