Mrs. Annie Ruth Harmon Polk, 94 year old resident of Lanett, died Thursday, June 6, 2013.

Mrs. Polk was born Friday, August 2, 1918, in LaFayette, Alabama, the daughter of the late Marvin and Susie Poole Shaver. She was an active member of the Lanett Congregational Christian Church where she was a former Deacon. Mrs. Polk loved to camp and was known as the Cookie Lady for cakes and cookies that she baked. She retired from Fairfax Mill of West Point Pepperell after 35 years.

Survivors include her son, Donald (Sharon) Harmon; her grandchildren, Jeff Harmon, Eric (Jennifer) Vaughn, and Alison (Mark) Puckett; 8 great grandchildren; her sisters, Faye (Billy) McDonald and Kay Daniel; and a special caregiver, Lisa Phillips. Mrs. Polk was preceded in death by her husbands Jack Harmon and Harvey Polk; her daughter, Jan Vaughn; her brothers, Troy Shaver, Jim Shaver, Roy Shaver, Hoyt Shaver and Joe Shaver; her sisters, Betty White, Doris Hadaway, Lucille Bence and Dot Hopkins.
