Annie Virginia Beal Claiborne, 92, a lifetime resident of Granville County, passed away Wednesday, May 23 2018 at Brantwood Nursing Home in Oxford.

Annie Virginia was a native of Granville County and was the daughter of the late Ollie Beal and Willie Lee Jones and the wife of the late Franklin H. Claiborne. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Stovall Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 25, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Stovall Methodist Church by Reverend John Yount and Dr. Glenn Martin.  Burial will be held in Stovall Memorial Cemetery in Stovall.

Surviving are four daughters, Barbara C. Burton (Donald)and  Joan C. Bullock , both of Oxford, Phyllis C. Melton (Wayne) of Franklinton, and Vivian C. Adcock of Bullock, two sons, Wayne Claiborne (Jackie) and Franklin H. Claiborne (Becky) both of Bullock, three sisters, Louise O’Brian, Dorothy Holbrook and Nancy Claiborne all of Oxford, eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased in death by her husband, Franklin H. Claiborne, three brothers, James Beal, Marvin Beal and Roy Beal and her sister Wilma Beal.

Visitation will be held in the sanctuary of Stovall Methodist Church on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 12:30 to 2:00 PM prior to the funeral and at other times at the home of Barbara Burton.
