On December 21, 2020, Ann Marie Myhre, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 71.
Ann Marie, known to her friends and family as Amer, was born in Atlantic City, on Valentine’s Day, 1949 as the first child of William and Florence Napier.
Amer’s father, Bill, was a navy man that fought in WW II, so Amer was one of the pretty-early baby boomers. Amer grew up in a close-knit family in Margate with both parents, her sister, and four brothers.
She went to the original Holy Spirit High School, on Massachusetts Ave, the same school that her future father-in-law, Jack Myhre, went to. The two of them enjoyed comparing notes on their experiences and reminiscing about the nuns together several times. After high school, Amer got an apartment in Atlantic City, the “Momass Apartment”, and worked the front desk of a big Atlantic City hotel. Amer had an accident in her early twenties that injured her left leg and left it paralyzed from the knee down. She had to leave the Momass apartment since it was on the 3rd floor, so she got a ground floor apartment right across the street from it (Chelsea Ave). Somewhat later Amer’s future husband, John, rented the Momass apartment which led to their meeting. John and Ann Marie married on September 28, 1985 and greatly enjoyed over 35 years of togetherness.
Amer was mother to two children, Michael and Stacy. Mike was born in 1986, just nine months after John and Amer wed. Mike is married to Emily and together they have two children. Stacy was born in 1988 and is married to Patrick.
Continuing with Amer’s work history, after working the front desk at Caesar’s Hotel/Casino, she decided to become a craps dealer in the casino, which she did until the birth of her son. Amer left her casino job to become a stay at home mom. To bring in some extra money she watched other kids in her home for many years, including Kelly, Erin, Kyle, Ross, Katy, Kelsey, Jimmy, and Justin. Despite the times when watching her own two kids with two or three others could be exasperating Amer loved children. Amer loved being in a close family and she loved being married. She had a wonderful life and never complained.
