Mr. Anthony “Gene Berry” Harris, was born January 20, 1936 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He started his journey to be with the lord on Sunday March 21st, 2021. Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Lavell Kennedy and Wilson Harris, children Elaine (Frank) Harris, Michael Ramey and Larry Grier, brothers Andrew Harris Sr. Jewel (Aunt Martha) Buggs, and Robert Harris.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife Annie Dell Harris; sons, Gary (Cindy)Grier, Steve (Vicki) Harris, Tony (Darlene) Harris, Antwan and Dorian Harris, and Paul Williams; daughters, Karen (Joe Dixon)Williams, Judy and Anita (Mark Landers) Harris sister in law Doris Harris;  32 grand-children; 46 great-grandchildren; a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Anthony, was affectionately known as “Aink,” by his loving wife, and to the grandkids it was “Paw Paw”. Paw Paw was our rescuer and he will let you know if you are in the wrong. In his younger years, he worked in foundry.Until he found his true talents such as fixing cars, working in the yard, creating inventions around the house, making furniture, cooking good meals or gardening. He loved to grow tomatoes, okra and turnip greens. He always had a bag of vegetables to give to his children or grandkids. He even planted an apple tree and saw it to grow.

He was always available to offer a helping hand whether it was to give great advice or even his opinion. He was well known and had many friends.  He had a big heart and was a social butterfly, he built a rapport with anyone he came in contact with. Also, he had a straightforwardness personality with a big sense of humor and said the best jokes especially the back in forth with his son Steve-O. His children and grandkids will always remember the fun memories they shared with him. One of the last things he said while lying in Hospice was to take care of your momma and we said we will and then he asked to face time her.Anthony was a blessing to our family for the many years he spent with us. We will truly miss him and we love you paw paw!!

To the Harris family....I remember meeting your Dad when I was working with Anita. We would stop by your parents house from time to time before going out and he would give us a good laugh and of course some advise. I pray God gives you peace and lots of wonderful memories of your father. Praying for you Anita and the rest of the Harris family.
