His Life

Tony Hernandez

January 4, 2012

He was born Nov. 1, 1922, in Mexico but lived in Cheyenne Wyoming for most of his life. He was a locomotive crane operator for the Union Pacific Railroad for 43 years. Mr. Hernandez served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the UP Oldtimers. He married Connie O. Limon of Cheyenne,  Aug. 6, 1945, in Cheyenne; together they had
five sons, Salvadore Hernandez of Hawthorne, Calif., Alex Hernandez of Denver, and Rudy Hernandez, John R. Hernandez and Jason Hernandez, all of Cheyenne; four daughters, Theresa Zavala of Hawthorne, Mary Smith of Salt Lake City, and Rachael Currence and Barbara Hernandez, both of Cheyenne; two sisters, Esther Garcia of Denver and Beatrice Renteria of Cheyenne; 20 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Tony was a devoted husband and father he worked hard to provide a good life for his family. He and Connie together raised their children to believe in themselves and to have faith in God. He was the rock of the family which was so close all his children and grandchildren looked up to him and knew he would be there by their side no matter what. He is sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
