Arnell Patterson-Croom was born on February 22, 1949, in Jefferson County, Al. She was born to the late Reese and Addle Patterson. She was raised in Industrial Center (Simmon Hill Neighborhood). She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Macedonia Christian Church in Oxmoor, Al.
She attended Wenonah High School and graduated from Rosedale High School in 1967 with honors. She graduated from the University of Alabama-UAB where she received a degree in Respiratory Therapy. She worked at Princeton Baptist Medical Center as a Respiratory Therapist and as the Respiratory department supervisor until she retired after 30 years of service. Then worked as a supervisor for Princeton Pulmonary for 10 years and retired a second time where she was loved and respected throughout her career. Arnell was united in matrimony to James Croom, whom she later divorced but they remained friends.
Arnell was always knowledgeable about many things and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was caring by nature. She was a mother, advisor, a confidant, and a friend. Her memory will remain in the heart of many. Arnell was preceded in(to) eternal life by her parents Reese and Addle Patterson, Three sibling: William Patterson, Monroe Patterson and Reese Patterson, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories: Her children Rachel (Will) Hines, Bennie (Marilyn) Perdue III and April (Anthony) Arrington. Grandchildren; Justin Perdue, Jahsaan Perdue, Gabrielle Stevenson, Torrance (TJ) Edwards III, Nadiya Edwards, Joshua Richardson, Ashton Arrington, Dasia Hine, and Jamorris Holyfield. She leaves also to cherish her memories a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
