Arnie had a way of always making everyone feel they were special; always seemed to have a grin and a twinkle in his eye. He was quite simply a joy to be around!

Gosh, I can't get everything in such a small place, here is a man who would do what ever it took to be accommodating, loved having fun, dancing, playing cards, golf, tinkering in the basement and friends. Most of all he loved and cared for his family. Didn't realize how much I would miss him. Love ya Dad.....wish I had said that more.

Today is Veterans Day. There will be special a dedication today at the Vets Home which will honor in perpetuity The 3 Voecks brothers, WWII Vets with a bench in their honor. My Dad, a favorite uncle and another uncle, a purple heart recipient I only know from photos and stories. May their service and contribution always be remembered

Arnie was the best father-in-law a girl could ask for. He was a kind, generous, caring man. But most of all, he loved to have fun.His focus in life was providing for his family and making sure everyone got along and enjoyed themselves. He was a joy to be around, and we miss him.

The One TIme Arnie Got Upset With Me

October 15, 2013

As mention several times before, Arnie was a great guy. It was always a pleasure being around or working with him because if things didn't go right he'd just laugh and we'd fix it somehow. He taught me how to paint, and we painted several apartments and houses together.
While he and Marge lived in AZ, they spent several summers in Fremont with me. Larry was up at the Niobrara during those years running a canoeing camp. I would always have a "honey do" list for Arnie and he always helped me out.

I can only remember him being upset with me once. Larry and I had not been married too long, and when we would visit Marge and Arnie the four of us would play bridge. Now Marge, Arnie and Larry all knew how to play bridge--I did not. This one time Arnie and I happened to be partners. Arnie had a really good hand and at some point in the bidding made a bid that apparently was meant to ask me for aces or something. (Those of you who play bridge know what I am talking about). Well since bridge bidding was like a foreign language to me, I had no idea what was going on, so I just passed. When Arnie came out of his chair and got red in the face I knew I had done the wrong thing. Of course with the competitive Voecks family our opponents wouldn't let me retract the bid and Arnie and I ended up going set! Poor guy, could hardly blame him for being upset.--- I think that may have been the last time I was his bridge partner. Marge had to put up with me after that.
