Vistation: Tuesday, October 20, 2020, from 12Noon to 4 p.m., parlor of W.E. Lusain Funeral Home, 629 Goldwire Way SW, Birmingham, AL 35211. 

Funeral: Wednesday, October 21, 2020, 12Noon in the chapel of W. E. Lusain Funeral Home, 249 6th Ave SW, Birmingham, AL 35211. Interment to follow at Alabama National Cemetery. 



OBITUARY

ARTHUR LEE CURRY was born on March 10, 1940, the son of Reuben Curry and Rebecca Harville in Birmingham, Alabama, both preceded him in death. He made his transition from this world on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

He spent his formative years in Birmingham. He received Christ at an early age at Brownville United Methodist Church. He graduated from Hooper City High School in 1958. Arthur later was drafted into the United States Army where he served his country from March 8, 1965 to December 9, 1966 and was honorably discharged.

He had a way about him that made people feel comfortable in his presence and they would walk away from him feeling encouraged and uplifted he was a humorous person, but also had a subtle quietness about him. He had a love for the sport of drag racing. He was known as Mr. Ness with the fastest running 33 Plymouth in Detroit called the Soul Shaker. He raced the Soul Shaker for many years in Detroit, Michigan. He is preceded in death by his father Reuben Curry, mother Rebecca Harville, sister Carrie Mae Curry, brother Cecil Curry, son Kelvin Boykin, grandson Kenneth Dunson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 34 years, Ruth affectionally called Honey: one son Jerome Morgan (Detroit, MI), one daughter Silesia Blackmon (Diversity Care Nursing Facility, Birmingham, Ala); two grandsons Jimmy Leon Dunson, Jerrell Dunson (Birmingham, Ala); three brothers Willie James Curry (Detroit, MI), Lawrence Curry (Boston, Mass.), Ricky Earl Curry (Birmingham, Ala); two sisters Ruby Nell Curry (Birmingham, Ala) and Darlene Curry (Lithia Springs, Ga.).Two loving aunts, Georgia Frazier and Bernice Harville; a very special nephew Roderick Curry; two nieces Carlene Fitts and Charlene Fitts whom he loved, a devoted friend Charles Milton, and a host of relatives and friends.
