Indianapolis – Arthur R. Morris passed away peacefully on November 19, 2018 with his loving daughter by his side. Arthur was born in Chicago, IL to Arthur O. Morris and Josie Talbot. He graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1955.

Arthur known to some as “Morris” is survived by his aunt, Rosa Parnell of Indianapolis, IN; his sister, Josie Jackson of Phoenix, AZ; his daughter and caretaker, Cecelia Morris of Englewood, OH; his daughter Trizah Morris, of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren; his niece, Brook Jackson of Phoenix, AZ; his step-son, Tommy Jennings of Indianapolis, IN, and several generations of cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; his 3rd wife Callie Morris; and his 2nd wife Hattie Morris.

Arthur received an honorable discharge from the United States Airforce in 1964 as an Airman Second Class. He then worked for the United States Post Office and as a salesman for Sears Roebuck and Company until he decided to become a full-time entrepreneur in 1975. As a general contractor Arthur was a tree trimmer/climber/cutter, landscaping technician, and home improvement specialist.Arthur received acknowledgement from the Indianapolis Black Expo for his entrepreneurial achievements. He enjoyed playing chess, gin-rummy, and he loved to eat fried chicken and bar-b-que ribs. Although he lived in Indianapolis for most of his life; he lived in Ohio with his daughter his last 2 years.

Arthur was a devout Jehovah’s Witness for over 40 years. He was not the type of Witness that was aggressive or overbearing when talking with others about his faith. He did not want his religion to be the focal point of his memorial. He wanted a memorial where his faith was mentioned while allowing others to speak about the influence or impression he left on their lives as well.

Unfortunately, the entire congregation where Arthur worshiped for about 30 years will not attend any memorial arranged by his immediate family to honor his final wishes.

A date or venue for the memorial Arthur wanted has not been determined and any services held in his name are not approved or sanctioned by the immediate family.

Professional arrangements entrusted to W.E. Lusain Funeral Home.
