Well, Daddy…. It’s been twelve long years since you transitioned but it’s like you never left. Your memory still lingers on and the wonderful thing is that they are good memories.
Whenever I put on perfume I remember your Old Spice scent. We could smell you before we ever saw you, smile. We knew that GQ was making an entrance. You were as smooth as ice … dressed like you were born the master of GQ.
You always had style …. Some would say debonair, however, you were a force to be reconned with if crossed. You believed in carrying yourself respectfully and not settling for anything less.
We are carrying your legacy on.

Miss you dad. Even though we weren't as close as I wanted us to be, I feel blessed for the time God gave us together. I will always remember those times.

So what can I say? That I miss you, wish you were here, why did you have to go so soon, etc, etc, etc,? No, I’d rather remember your infectious smile, your Old Spice cologne, your deep voice, your no nonsense attitude, your pride in your possessions, your classy disposition, and your swag, your swag, your swag!!! You put the S in swag. And now you have your boo with you and I can see you two smiling in Heaven together. I’m missing both of you but I’m joyful in knowing that you’re together again. RIH daddy.

Rest in Peace Granddad. You are truly missed. Feeling nostalgic today and having memories of Christmas at your house for many years. I remember you taking me to the Gallery and allowing my greedy tail to get a dozen sticky buns and taking me to get tacos. I remember taking those pics and you making it your business to get what looked like life-sized portraits (not really life-sized but it appeared that way as a child). I felt so loved to go to your house and see nothing but ME all over your walls. I remember you taking me to go and see the WIZ and you cussing and carrying on while we were in traffic. I remember you going in your trunk from time to time to get a taste of liquor; lolol.... You are truly missed and I hope you and Lala are playing "nice" up in heaven. Please and Thank you! (smile)

I can’t believe that it has been 10 years since you entered into Heaven. My heart still misses you, however, it focuses on the wonderful memories of laughter and joy you bought to us. So, whenever I find myself saddened by your absence I can hear your laughter.

Funny story

March 6, 2015

Dad was being admitted to the hospital (on one of many occasions), and when they took him to the room, there was a man in the room putting on lipstick. Dad's wbkords were hard to come by, but he stopped the nurses in their tracks and said "I can't go in the room with a lady. I'm a man. That's a lady. The nurses explained to him that it was a man that liked to dress like a lady. He held onto the sides of the door and would not allow them to push him in the room. He told them there was no way in *@$# he was going in that room. He told them he would sleep out in the hallway before he went into that room. When the nurses called the house to tell us what happened, they were laughing so hard, they could barely tell the story. He got a private room for that hospital stay.

The Wiz

March 6, 2015

I cannot recall my exact age but I was a pre-teen. He picked me up from my mothers home and took me to see the musical play, "The Wiz". We had a blast although I was a tad bit confused as to why the performers were black. HA HA HA. Afterwards, we went to the Gallery, which was fairly new and he took me to Tiffanys bakery. He told me to get what I wanted. So..... I ordered a dozen sticky buns with walnuts. After getting the sweet treats, we then proceeded to get one of my childhood favorites, tacos. Again, he told me to order what I wanted, which was 6 tacos!!!! He looked at me and laughed (and added a few cuss words) and said, " girl, you can really eat"!  Priceless.

His First Car Experience

July 9, 2011

Daddy purchased his first car in 1975. It was a 1976 Ford Taurus. Oh, how he loved that car and thought that it was the best riding car this side of heaven. Just like himself, he kept the car immaculate. Always had it washed and detailed. I would say "Daddy, you love that car as if it were your new born baby" and he would reply ... "Don't get jealous, it will never take your place, smile."
