His Life
September 16, 2022
Mr. Assefa Woldekidan was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on September
08,1943 from his father Ato Woldekidan Woldegebriel and his mother,
Weyzero Worknesh Begna in Gola Michael area. Mr. Assefa attended
Beyene Merid School for his elementary education, and Medhane Alem
High School for his secondary education. After high school he moved to
Northern region of Ethiopia, Adigrat area to teach. After finishing
his teaching, he went to Addis Ababa university to get his Bachelor’s
Degree. After finishing university, he started working at Commercial
Bank of Ethiopia and worked there for 27 years. While he was working
in the Bank, Somalia invaded Ethiopia and Mr. Assefa volunteered to
enlist to the militia to defend Ethiopia. After being discharged
honorably he returned back to working at Commercial Bank of Ethiopia.
He was given the chance to get his Masters Degree in Business in
Italy. After retiring from Commercial Bank of Ethiopia he worked at
Awash Bank for about 5 years.

He was married to Weyzero Alganesh G/Michael Aregawi in 1984 and has
two children, Berhane and Amanuel Woldekidan. In 2002, Mr. Assefa
moved to Cincinnati with his family after winning the Diversity Visa
program.

Due to kidney failure complications at the beginning of 2022, he
became very ill and was being treated throughout the year.
Unfortunately, his illness worsened and ended up passing away on the
7th of September 2022. He is survived by his two children, Berhane and
Amanuel Woldekidan, family members here and back home. His burial
service will be held in Cincinnati at Landmark Memorial Gardens on
September 10, 2022.

He will be remembered as a kind, humble, thoughtful, lovely and very
faithful person who always cared about his family here and back in
Ethiopia. He will definitely be missed.
May we remember his memories as the loving and caring person that he was.

The family would like to thank friends and family who came from far
and near, who have been by our father’s side during his time of joy
and sorrow, and for being with us when we bid him farewell; may the
Lord Jesus Christ bless you all.
