When I first met Audrey, she had moved to Mullica Gardens before I began working there. For several days she would circle my office, check me out and move on. As I made my way around the community, I could see her eyes following me. Then finally, one day, she made her way into my office, asked if she could sit; I said yes. She looked at me and said, "You're new here?" I said yes, and I'm happy to be here. She said, "I know, I've been checking you out; you seem to be a good person." And then she said, "Stick with me, Kid, and you'll be alright." Her words were one of the kindest anyone has ever spoken. We, as healthcare providers, come into this field to serve and protect our seniors, and this beautiful soul took it upon herself to look out for me. I knew then we would have an exceptional relationship. Over the years, we shared the most comical and loving conversations that always included Missy and Freddy. While her passing is heavy, I'm able to fill that heaviness with her love and humor. I will miss her always.
