Family Trip West

Shared by Pamela Mattson McDonald on March 11, 2016

Mom at the Grand Canyon. An appropriate vista for her because she was such a visionary. A woman before her time who saw what the future would bring. She'd be so happy with the advances in parenting for both men and women. The advances in education, the many modes of intelligence which are being recognized in the fields of learning.

Now, she would also be on the front lines of justice and welcoming refugees. Her family were immigrants from Sweden. They contributed to this country like many other immigrants do and will in the future.

Within the Emerald Necklace

Shared by Pamela Mattson McDonald on March 11, 2016

Cleveland was surrounded with a chain of parks, affectionaly called the Emerald Necklace. Actually an ingeneous plan to have the trees clean the atmosphere of the heavy industrial center so the suburbs had healthier air to breath.

We went to these oasis of nature frequently. My Mom so eager to teach us the beauty and intricacies of the wild. We such devoted students.

I think it was in Florida and my Grandmothers hairdresser fell in love with my mother's mane of hair. There was a TV show and she showed off the stylists work. It was the 1960's. Check out the tan!
