About Mrs Augustina N. Nwaezeapu

Mrs Augustina Nkechi Nwaezeapu (Nee Abiagom) was born on the
2nd of August 1958 in Abonema, Rivers State Nigeria.
She hailed from Ibusa in Oshimili North local government of Delta state and was the last in a family of several girls and a boy.
She attended the Sacred Heart Primary school Ibusa between 1964 and 1970 where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate. In 1971, she got admission into St. Augustine’s college Ibusa, where she obtained her West African examination certificate in 1975.
Two years later, on her parents advise and because of her love for children, she took the bold step of entering into the Teachers Training College from where she received a Grade 2 teacher’s certificate in 1980.
While attending the Teachers Training College, she met her loving husband of 41 years, Sylvanus Nwaezeapu, whom she married after completing her course in 1980.
In 1980 she relocated to Lagos, where she was absorbed into the Lagos State Teaching service on the 1st of September 1980.
She taught at several state schools including Onayade Primary School, Fadeyi, Myhoung Military Primary School, St Dominic’s Primary School, Yaba, and St Jude’s Anglican Primary School, Ebutte Metta where she retired at the height of her career as a Director of Education in 2015.
In the course of her career as a teacher, she undertook several professional courses and received several awards such as the National Certificate in Education from the University of Ibadan in 1997, a Bachelor of Arts (Education) in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Lagos in 2000 and a Masters of Education in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Calabar in 2002.
All of her achievements she says would have been impossible without the support of her family.
She was fulfilled in her career as an educationist, a teacher, wife and a mother who has the privilege of impacting generations of children who have become successful in their own right as Teachers, Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers and so on.
She was survived by her four children – Chibuzor, Uju, Henry & Sandra as well as her six grandchildren who are crushed by her loss but comforted by the life she led.
