TRIBUTE TO ELDER J.B.BELLO

I really did not get to meet Elder Joseph Babatunde Bello during his sojourn here on earth, just like I never met any of those I read about in the Bible. However, there are some of them that I can describe with almost flawless accuracy because of the records they left behind.
You have a clear epistle of your person, well-scripted in your amiable daughter, Mrs. Funke Briggs (Nee Bello), whom you graciously gave to Lanre Briggs, as a wife. Funke mirrors you; she tells me who you are by who she is! You have a good daughter and, now, a great mother!
The Bible teaches me that a good tree cannot bear corrupt fruits. So, seeing who Funke Briggs is, tells me the kind of tree that produced her.
Some years ago, I remember how Lanre will simply tell me that he was on his way to Ajaokuta. “To do what?” I will ask. And he will gladly tell me, “to visit my father-in-law”. Ajaokuta, just like that? It was like he was going to the next street!
Hmmm. When I looked at the frequency with which Lanre kept visiting his father-in-law, at Ajaokuta, I concluded that Elder Joseph Babatunde Bello cannot be a father-in-law, he must be a father-in-love!
Thank you for showing us how to live. Thanks for your selfless lifestyle. Thanks for living well for all to see. Thanks for the lessons indirectly learnt from you. Thank you for raising your children with the fear of God in their hearts. No man lives well if his life does not positively impact others.
Elder Joseph Babatunde Bello lived well.
Sleep on,Daddy !

TRIBUTE FROM DEMOLA MORONKEJI

Tribute to a wonderful brother! The exit of a good Friend like a close Brother. I can recall over and over again how we met at National Bank Plc in 1973. We enjoyed an absolute intimacy from there up till the point that he died. Just a week before he died, l went to visit him. I was there to check on his well being. We ate together and he insisted that l should sleep but l didn't because l had other areas where l wanted to visit. J.B touched many lives, peaceful, and his simplicity was amazing, loving , and indeed a man of full of wisdom. He was hardworking, diligent , and easy going. The sweet memories of your gesture will remain evergreen in my heart. Assuredly, you lived a fulfilled life. You fought a good fight and you have won the race. Rest on my beloved brother until the resurrection morning , where we meet to part no more in Jesus Name. Good Night 'JB'

The first time I met Mr. Bello was at the wedding between Funke and Larry where I served as the Best man. He was engaging and welcoming to all, funny, friendly, and jovial. He was full of life and certainly a man of wisdom. He took time to know his guests, spent time with some of us young men who were there for the wedding occasion. A unique moment that I remember was the insights and godly principles he shared with us from his life experience – live life to the fullest. Don’t be afraid to try something new. Be content with what you have.

Daddy Bello will greatly be missed… He surely left a legacy of positive experiences for anyone who took the time to know him.

To Funke, Larry, grand kids and to other family members, please accept my condolences. Be consoled in the fact that your daddy has finished his race, completed his task and there was need for him to transition to his next abode. A better place. A glorious home. A place of rest, where there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for death has been swallowed in victory.

We rejoice because we are certain, beyond a shadow of a doubt, we will re-unite again! This is the hope for anyone that has willingly received the offer of salvation through the death of Christ Jesus. Hence, we do not mourn as those with no hope.

Let us celebrate, a life well lived.

Adieu Mr. Bello.

THE EXIT OF A LEGEND

Dear Lanre & Funke, Don't think of your daddy as gone away, His journey just begun.

Life holds so many facets, this Earth is just only one.

Just think of him as resting from the sorrows and the tears to a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing that you could know today and
How nothing but your sadness can really pass away.

However, think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched....

For nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much.

Think of the times he spent with you.

Think of his cheerful spirit.....

Think of his impact...
Think of his selfless and caring nature ....
Think of his friendship....

Think of his contributions to humanity...

Think and think also that a charitable legend don't and can't die for his memories lives on in each of us......

Lanre and Funke, thank God for the privilege God gave you to provide maximum care in his very distressed time.

Your frequent trip to Ajaokuta and Ibadan day and night hours in his critical condition days were good pay back for a wonderful father who distributed joy and affectionate love to you and everyone.

I am persuaded that if you had anything you could do more to make him live forever you would have done just that, unfortunately, the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh.

May you receive the comfort, the grace and the fortitude to march on in Jesus name.

By Rev.Dr. & Mrs Oyediji.

We will miss you but your legacy will continue to inspire.

Daddy..... When I first head about you I was like is it possible for some one to be like this until the first time I visited you in Ajaokuta, Kogi State and it was as if I had never seen a motivational speaker speaking before because daddy engaged me with a serious charge on how to be hard working and taking responsibility for my life and others around,
Since then I began to see daddy as an angel that God sent to make life meaningful to many people that doesn't know that they can be great in life.
I am grateful to God for giving me one out of many people daddy trained to become somebody in life as my wife.
Daddy what a role model you are, continue to rest in the bosom of your creator.

So today, we cannot cry because it's over, but rather, we'll smile because an amazing personality like you, Pa Bello, happened indeed, did become a shining light and touched lives while you were here with us.

To my gentle and ever lovely Aunty Funke, amiable and selfless Uncle Lanrewaju and the entire Bello family, we share in celebrating the life of Pa Joseph Bello. We pray the Lord appoint and give unto you

Tribute to Elder J.B. Bello

Daddy, they say you cannot be everything to everyone. But you were everything to everyone who knew you. You were a mentor to those who needed to be mentored. You were a coach to those who needed to be coached. You were a sponsor to those who needed to be sponsored.

You were a man of the people. I am yet to meet anyone who genuinely loved people the way you did. They say it takes a village to raise a child. You were that village to not only many kids but also full-grown adults within and beyond your community.

I know all these because you were my coach, my mentor, and my sponsor. You were a father to me and to everyone who had the good fortune to cross your path - young, old, male, female, no matter who they were or where they came from.

You were a selfless man who would go above and beyond to give a helping hand to anyone in need, sometimes at the expense of your personal convenience. I remember when you would travel to Lagos from Ajaokuta once every quarter or so, for as long as a week, sometimes two weeks at a time, running errands on the busy and congested streets of Lagos, from one bank to another, or from one stockbroker to another, on behalf of people whom sometimes you barely even knew. You showed many how to get their finances in order, how to invest in the stock market, and prepare for retirement. And indeed, that was a life saver for many people and their families when they either lost their source of income or due to non-payment of salary by their employers.

Your work ethic was unparalleled. Even though you were sixty and retired when I lived with you, and I was just nineteen, I couldn't keep up with you! As your so called 'secretary' for more than a year before I went to Unilorin, I remember the thousands of letters, emails, affidavits, and texts messages you drafted on behalf of the people you were helping, to process their stocks and shares transactions. And much more…

What more can I say? Words would fail to do justice to all your good works while you were here with us. You were a man full of wisdom and I will never forget all you did for me and how much you taught me about life. Also, I can't forget my mock interviews with you, to prepare me for my very first job interview after I graduated from Unilorin. That was how invested you were in people! You would do anything you could to help people succeed. I consider myself fortunate to have lived under your roof and it was the greatest honor of my life to have known you personally.

Daddy, my heart is broken that you left us too soon, but I am consoled by the fact that you are now in a better place.

Go on now sir, and rest well at the bosom of Christ.

It was with great shock we heard of the passing to glory of our dear beloved Elder J.B. Bello. He was like a father to us. His dedication to God, to the work of God and God's people was exceptional. We never related with him as pastor- member but as a father. He was an encourager, giver, philanthropist and someone who always want others to rise. Not proud nor arrogant.
His departure, though painful, we cannot question God. We stand upon His word that says IN EVERYTHING GIVE THANKS...
We pray that God will fill the vacuum left by his departure and strengthen mummy(the wife ), and the children and grand children.
Elder Bello, you will forever be missed. Rest on in peace daddy.

Grandpa,

I am sad!
The first time I met you was at Ajaokuta when I travelled alongside Mr Briggs to visit you.

You were so warm, accommodating and loving. You made me feel you had known me before that day. You packed a lot of goodies for me the day we left and that left me in awe.

I saw you a few times later whenever you visited Lagos and it was always pleasant talking to you.

You are indeed a great person. You will surely be missed.

TRIBUTE OF ELDER JOSEPH BABATUNDE BELLO

It is indeed a heavy burden and herculean task for me given my great sense of loss and deep grief to write tribute of Elder Joseph Babatunde Bello. However this burden became lighter if writing of this tribute will strengthen the relationship between the families of Bello and Daramola.

It is sad to know that Elder J.B. Bello left but again it is a loving memory for me when I think of his loving memory. He was a man of God to the core, a philanthropist and always looked for the good of people. He couldn’t rest until people’s problems got solved except those ones kept away from him. The progress of people was always his delight. He could go to any length to put a smile on someone’s face. It is said in the Bible that God takes the righteous away before the days of evil.

Daddy, your intelligence and diligence has made some of us strong today by emulation. He always stressed the importance of education and hard work in life. Death unfortunately is a debt everyone has to pay and when his time came he had no option than to leave even though to us was too soon but we know it was God’s time.

You never lived like a church member to us but you lived like an elder brother, uncle and a father. We cherish you. Your memory will not die with us because the memory of the just is blessed (Proverbs 10:7a). We pray that God will strengthen mummy and we children you left behind.

Goodnight our Daddy. Sleep well in the Lord’s bosom.

I never had the chance to meet you one on one but you were indeed well spoken of all round. And to think you raised an amazing angel and a rare gem of a selfless 'big sister' whom our beloved brother married has lent credence to how peaceful a man and accommodating a father you have been till your very last day and as well, to how successful and fulfilled a life you must have led.

We celebrate you now, even as you sleep on, as always. On behalf of the Ogundowoles, I pray your soul find repose in the bossom of the Almighty who has called you home. May He grant everyone who truly hold you dear in their hearts the fortitude to bear this and courage to march on in this journey of life.

What a man! What a life! The life of a man is measured, not by the number of words he spoke but by the impact he made. My first meeting with you was when I travelled to Ajaokuta with my beloved friend- your son-in-law, to see you. The reception, hospitality, advise, humorous moments were just too contagious. I left there knowing why Brother Briggs has some of the heart warming characters that he exhibits. It was clear he got them from you.

With time, you relocated to Ibadan, and you became my neighbor. We saw intermittently due to my travelling nature. But every meeting with you left a sweet memory that made me look forward to when I will see you again. The gists, from politics to life, family, business, the advice to always be careful on the roads etc.

It was an honour to know you on this side of life. I anticipate the honour of meeting you again, in the great beyond.

You have gone ahead, we come slowly but Surely.

we shall meet again in glory.

My family and I celebrate you deeply.

You are sorely missed.
Rest on sire!

Daddy, I am so incredibly grateful and happy that I can be here today and tell people about you.I have been blessed to have had you as a Father in law.
To say I loved you would would be an understatement -  and  to say  I’m going to miss you would be an even greater understatement.
I cannot begin to imagine not having you on the end of a phone, saying “hello ,s’alaafia ni? Ile nko o ?”
Who is going to give candies to Tanny & Rere again?
You were always there for everyone, family, neighbours, colleagues, or friends. . .
He had solutions to everything..”Daddy,s’eni blade ,he would answer ,o wa “..
“Daddy s’eni plaster, panadol etc ,he would always answer in the affirmative.
He was a very clever man, outgoing and yet taciturn.
You were extremely hard working, compassionate towards everyone, and deserved the success and rich life that you enjoyed. You taught us many, many things but I think most importantly you gave us the ability to know that if you really put your mind to something, anything is possible, and never to be afraid to give anything a go.
Your attention to detail and perfectionism was infectious. You will be sorely missed Daddy.
Nobody can be perfect but you were as close to being the most perfect Father anyone could have.
Your love was unconditional and this is something I will cherish from your character – and take with me forever. Your kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing you.
I would like to thank everyone who stood by you in your last days. The medical and domestic staff that were with you were amazing. The entire Funbell team led by Dr Olu Abayomi showered so much love on you.You had so much love around you.You were a blessed man.You left empty without owing the world a dime and didn’t take anything to the grave.
I also would like to thank my wonderful wife,OLUFUNKE your daughter) for her incredible love and support.Your grandchildren were always seizing any available opportunity to come and see you.Ayanfe,Dieko,Tanny&Rere,to whom I am mostly indebted.
I am humbled by Mummy’s strength over the past few days and her ability to focus on the amazing life she shared with you and not dwell on what she has lost.
I hope that through this I can find strength from her example and be there for her in time of need.
To my wonderful Moji and Ariyo, you guys rock!
May the Lord repay you for all your good works.
Finally,Daddy i am mostly consoled by the fact that we shall see again.Continue to rest in His bosom,Joseph Babatunde Akanbi BELLO.

Daddy Ajaokuta, that's what l fondly call Daddy. It's a great loss to humanity at large l must confess. A strong, versatile and responsible father. He lived an indelible impact to us and a beautiful example to follow, as we were growing. Thankfully, l admired it and took a bold step in gaining a lot from these attributes, hardwork, honesty, tenacity, and energetic  prowess. We take solace that you're resting in the bosom of the Lord Almighty. And believe strongly that all you left behind, God will keep and watch over. 1. It seems trite to say baba will be missed, or that he went away too soon. But it's true. The bottom line is that he was a great leader and when u pull back the curtain of all that entails, u'll also see he was a great man and a special breed of an altruist who cared and loved others just the way he loves his own. We can all learn about leadership and humanity by following baba's example. Rest in Power Pa Babatunde Joseph Bello
