Let the memory of Barbara be with us forever.

This memorial website was created in memory of our Mother, Barbara Gates.

Barbara Flores Gates, daughter of Charles and Lelia Flores (Gryder), went to the Next Place on Thursday, May 28, 2015.  She will joyfully join her parents, brother Chuck, son Tony, and grandson Cale for the Eternal Adventure.

Barbara leaves behind her sister Polli Butzner (Don, Donnie and family), 11 children (Michael, Rebecca, Dan, Ivy Peters, Dean, Holly Barkley, Ron, Buck Colby, Julie Kapphahn, Mindy Fleming, and Brad), 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Barbara’s family kept her comfortable and feeling well-loved through her final days at home. They are forever grateful to Ronda Kapphahn, who provided around the clock support and Oakhurst Hospice for their caring expertise.  A Private Memorial Service was held in Ventura.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

"Barbara and I met in High School had great times together and kept in touch thru e-mail for the last 14 years and will truly be missed."

"For 67 years I was blessed to have Barbara to call my big/tiny sister. So many memories that only we shared can never be replaced.  She carried family history away with her; now there is no one to ask to clear up missing issues, no one there to know the right words to say when the world is out of control, no one there to laugh at my stupid antics.  She loved strong and her love lives on.  We celebrate the life of one incredible daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-gra'ma.
May her newest journey give her contentment and freedom from illness.  Watch the evening sky to see the sunsets she paints.  They will be beautiful just as she was.  Love you forever."
