I miss you so much! This past year has been such a challenge and I wish you were here to share it with me. I know you would be so proud of all that I’m doing! You are such a great example to me! I want to keep doing the work that you did! I want o honor your life and live for me. I wish I could call you, talk with you, sit with and visit you. I know you would appreciate, listen and advise! Your example will have to be enough. I regret not spending more time with you. I wish I’d not been so busy and taken the time for granted. I thought you’d always be here. I miss you so much and I love you more! I don’t know that I’ve ever felt more loved by anyone! Yesterday was your birthday! I hope you had a big celebration in heaven with Uncle Bob! I miss him too. ❤️

Barb was part of the team that interviewed & hired me in 2001 right after 911. We focused a lot on that during my interviews & I could see what a caring, compassionate person she was right from my start at the Alliance. She was such an intelligent director & knew all aspects of the Alliance. She always seemed to have my back at meetings while I was new & learning about the Alliance & I still appreciate that . Andy was her fun & joy & there were many employees at the Alliance that thought Andy was her husband as she talked about him so much. When she left the Alliance, she let many of us choose what we wanted from her office that she had collected over the years. I chose her double dolphin figurine since I knew how much she loved dolphins. I'm especially glad to have that now. Barb was truly a unique person & she will be missed by many.

It is hard to believe that Barbara has left us. She has constantly been in my thoughts and in my heart since her passing. I will always remember her for her kindness, her humor, and her smile. She encouraged me to come to the Alliance 11 years ago. She was responsible for getting me hooked on Survivor but never managed to make me a "Big Brother" addict. Barbara was one of a kind. A truly caring soul who championed health care in our community both in and out of the Alliance. We love you and will miss you. Thank you for all that you shared of yourself. Rest in peace.

Thank you Barbara for helping us at the Alliance be successful in our mission of improving the health of our members. We will miss you but treasure the memories you helped us to create. May your heavenly journey bring you peace and life everlasting.

I started working at the Alliance in 2004. Working with Barb in Health Services was never a dull moment. She always had something witty to say to make you laugh so hard you had tears rolling down your face. Barb was also a wonderful and compasionate aunt, sister, sister inlaw, and friend. The moments I enjoyed most listening to Barb was when she was talking about her family. She really loved them deeply. I appreciate Barb for all the experiences she shared with me.

Barb, Wherever you are you will always be in my heart.

I worked with Barb starting in 2001. She sat on my interview panel for my position at the Alliance. I'll always remember her as being very committed to the mission of the Alliance. Barb always looked out for the best interests of our members. She truly was a leader in local healthcare.

Barb was very, very funny, and even more generous with local causes. Barb had a great sense of humor, and she loved to laugh. Her love of reality TV shows was always a topic of conversation, especially SURVIVOR! Barb was one of the most generous people I’ve encountered. Her support of the Alliance’s United Way Employee Giving Campaign never wavered. She was also a leader in our Food Drives. Over the years she gave thousands of dollars to these causes.

I have a collection of personalized Christmas ornaments from Hammond Glass, which she gave to her coworkers each year. They’ll always have a special meaning.

Barb and I “competed” over who had the cutest dog, and I was sad for her when I learned that her little Andy had passed. I hope they are now together.

After years of serving your community Barb, now it’s time to rest. Like the dolphins you so loved, you were joyful, compassionate and very, very entertaining.

I remember Barb from way way back in 1995 when we were all part of a little start-up with a big mission: SCCHO aka CCAH aka The Alliance. We worked together closely for another 13 years. I could always rely on Barb to help resolve problems and for the best 'politically correct' response in sticky situations. She never lost her sense of humor - even in the most challenging times - and that was a gift to all of us. One of the kindest things she ever did for me was to keep the state auditors at bay while I was grieving the loss of my beloved kitty from the day before. She understood, and I loved her for that. She was incredibly compassionate and generous. I will continue to treasure all the beautiful crystal Christmas ornaments she gave me, as I will her memory.  May you rest in peace Barb.

I joined the Health Services department and family a short time after SCCHO was open for business.  I think at that time it was a grand total of 8 HS staff in one small cubicle section, responsible for all of the HS activities for Santa Cruz County.  It was quite a cozy group.
Barb and I were the two nurse dynamic- duo that did hospital review, UR patient case presentations, reviewed every authorization request, [ think we data entered them as well ] talked with members on the phone, made visits to providers offices, etc..  We certainly were a great team.
With time and expansion into Monterrey Country, the department grew in number of staff, new positions were created, responsibilities increased, there were more State obligations put upon the organization which included frequent visits from them and HEDIS – oh how we loved those HEDIS weekends
All the time our department grew, Barb was the driving force to keep things going forward.
She was a great leader and friend.
Your time was too short on this earth.

I started working with Barb in 1997 when Alliance was SCCHO.
Barb had a great sense of humor to go along with her compassionate and caring qualities. Her sense of humor was unexpected at times but helped you remember that you can do serious work and still laugh. Something to remember.
Barb and I had some adventurous moments that I will share. A Bat in the Encinal office while auditors were visiting (yes, a real bat) also an earthquake in King City while at a provider in service, we were upstairs. Let’s just say that not all people like earthquakes equally.
I had the opportunity to spend some quality time with Barb in Merced, I wished we had had the time in SV too. Just always seemed like there was no time but there would always be time.
Barb loved her little dog Andy. She spoke of him often and with such love.
Although I did not keep in touch with Barb after retirement, I thought of her often.
I will remember all the laughs we had when it gets tough.
may you rest peacefully, Barb

I will always remember meeting Barb on the day that we both started work at what was then SCCHO. Over the years, we often reminisced about that first morning of work when the new employees stood around in a circle introducing ourselves and discussing the work ahead of us. There was a lot of work to be done to bring up that "grass roots" health plan. The growth and success of the Alliance over the years are in no small part due to Barb’s leadership, dedication and determination. I appreciated Barb’s ability to see the humor in, and then to also problem solve, even the most difficult situations. I will always remember Barb’s love of the time she spent on Kauai each year, her fascination with the show Survivor and her great love for her little dog, Andy. My most sincere condolences to all who knew and loved Barb.

I will always remember Barb for her kind and compassionate spirit. Barb cared deeply about serving our members and was committed to doing the right thing. She had a sharp intellect and a keen sense of humor. I could always rely on Barb to say something witty to lighten the mood and to keep spirits up. I'll never forget her love of "Survivor" and will fondly remember many conversations with her debating who would win the show. I will remember Barb warmly in my heart and send my sincere condolences to her family and close friends. She will be missed.

I remember Barb as having a great sense of the ridiculous. She loved nothing better than a good funny story and would laugh out loud without any hesitation. Barb was also incredibly generous and donated many thousands of dollars to the Alliance annual Food Drive. During the Drives, whenever she saw me, she would stop and ask "How are we doing? Are we going to beat our record?" I'm happy to say that it was often due to Barb's kind donations that we were able to break record after record. Who can forget the infamous "Barb Bucks"? She was delighted when we put a picture of her little dog, Andy, in the middle of each buck! Thanks for your support, Barb, and for making our company an even better place. HRG.

I will always remember Barb as a colleague and as a friend. Her smile brightened my days, and her knowledge and caring reminded me that improving health care was good work...simply the right thing to do. Barb "made a difference" to me, and to so many others. Rest in peace, Barb.
