Her Life

Barbara Jean Mason

October 26, 2012

Barbara was born in May of 1934 to Leatha and Walter Mason of Cochise Arizona better known as the famous "Tombstone Arizona" where the famous gun battle between the Erp's and the Clanton gang occurred. After she graduated from high school Barbara worked serving hambergers in a resterant near campus as she attended the University of Phoenix. Getting by with just one hamberger a day to eat.  Barbara graduated with her Masters in Music Education and English Literature. She had worked with renoun Count Bassey and, as one of her many instructors during college, she felt priviliged and honored to have also worked with John Phillips Souza during his creation of several of his well known marching band numbers. She was a gifted musician and played as many as sixteen instruments her favorite being the coronet She taught and worked with numerous High Schools across the western states.
She believed in gay rights and became a gay activist upon the death of her dear friend Harvey Milk of San Francisco. She will be remembered for the many miracles she created with her music, her wonderful imagination and creativity. She was a blessing to know and my dearest of friends.
She will always live in my heart and her music will always be in my ear. I love you my friend, may the Lord hold your tender heart in the palm of his hands and forever protect and embrace you.

All My Love and Admiration
