Barbara S. Neely (née Shepherd), age 77, of Mullica Hill, formerly of Collingswood, passed away peacefully at home on July 18, surrounded by her loving family.  A resident of Collingswood for over fifty years, Barbara was known and loved by many in the community.   A vivacious party girl with varied interests, she was active in her church, St. Stephen’s Episcopal in Mullica Hill, she was an avid reader and member of her book club, and she enjoyed playing cards with her bridge club.  She went back to school and earned a B.S. in history from Rutgers University, and a master’s degree from The Wharton School.  She loved the arts, and volunteered her time as a tour guide for the Philadelphia Art Museum.  Most of all, Barbara loved her family and friends, and she was happiest when she was around her family.

Beloved mother of Anne Neely (Francesco Mario) of Mullica Hill, and Donald Neely, of Grants Pass, Oregon.  Devoted grandmother of Alessio and Livia Mario; and June and Cedra Neely; and great-grandmother of Page Marie.  Dear sister of Maurice (Jane) and Robert (Leslie) Shepherd.  Predeceased by her beloved parents, Maurice and Dorothy Shepherd.

Family and friends are invited to attend her Requiem Mass at 10am on Friday, July 25, 2014, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 51 N. Main St. in Mullica Hill.  Donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.

A flower for my cousin and Godmother, Barbara, who loved her garden. I will keep her in my heart and think of her each time I see a beautiful flower.
