Barry Allyn Hines 1966 – 2018
Barry Allyn Hines, 51, of Rockford, was taken home to be with God on February 10, 2018.
He was born April 2, 1966 in Rockford, IL the son of Ronald D. and Judith C. (Dayton) Hines.
Barry was an organ donor so that “Others can Live, Love and Laugh”.
He attended Hononegah High School and lived mostly in Roscoe, IL.
Predeceased by his loving father, Ron in 2005. He cared for and loved his mother, Judy, as promised to his Pappa (Ron). Barry is loved and will be missed by his sister Kim Pena (Juan) and nephew, Ryan of Idaho; brother, Dan Hines (Kathy) of Montana and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Supportive and true friends – Jason and Melissa Furniss of Freeport, IL remember Barry;
“What can we say about Barry other than he was a great friend with a heart of gold. He would do anything for anyone especially if it involved anything with wheels. We especially enjoyed four wheeling, snowmobiling and motorcycle riding. Barry would ride his Shadow with all the “rockets” and not have a care in the world. The guys loved it because here was this crazy “old” man on his loud, flame throwing bike not caring that he is odd man out. He enjoyed four wheeling and snowmobiling with the kids because he was a big kid at heart himself. If you ever needed an ear to listen, shoulder to cry on or a best friend for life, Barry was your guy.”
Close like a father and neighbors of 43 years, Jim and Marion Applegate of Roscoe, IL remember Barry;
“Barry was our neighbor since he was six years old. Before Barry’s illness kept him from working as a limousine driver, he loved escorting a group of young women to cheer for the Chicago Bulls. While suffering with Crohn’s, Barry edited Jim’s memoir, Real Cats Don’t Wear Collars.”
A best friend for nearly a decade, Dave Heinzeroth of Roscoe, IL shares a Barry memory;
“Barry was a special friend and terrific mechanic! While a friend of mine Barry restored my VW and Mercedes Benz and I will always remember those days. He taught me a lot! I miss you Barry! Heaven is yours for a while buddy, see you when I get there!
As a loving brother, Dan and Kathy of Kalispell, MT remember Bear;
“We shared many long conversations and pictures about projects Barry was working on, and the work we are doing on our home. He was always telling us to enjoy life, cherish each other and our health! He was trying to get himself better to move to Montana or Idaho. When he felt really bad because of his illness he would say “I want to go to heaven to be with my Papa to get one of his Great bear hugs!” We love and miss you Bear, until we reunite in Heaven!” xoxo
As a brother, brother-in law and uncle Kim, Juan and Ryan of Fruitland, ID remember Barry;
"Barry enjoyed helping others, tinkering with all things mechanical and cruising on his motorcycle or in his vintage Cadillacs. Barry loved food. When we were kids I made cream puffs and he was so excited that he dropped it. Boy did he cry! Uncle Barry made Ryan's first birthday cake, it was, what else a race car! What was Barry's purpose in life? To show us how to persevere and that things are not important, people are!"
A private memorial will be held for those who love and miss Barry.
Please contact Dan and Kathy, 406-257-3775 for information on his memorial or to share a Barry Memory or two!
As we sit in our great room we reminisce Christmas past.
Barry loved Christmas and everyone that he loved knew that!
We love you Barry...
Remembering when...
At Christmas (in the late 70's) when Georgia and Howard were visiting at Mom and Dad's house in Roscoe, I locked the keys to Georgia and Howard's Mercedes in their car. Barry realized the trunk hadn't locked when the doors did and he thought there might be a way to get into the car from there. He found a tool that was to be used if the power sunroof wouldn't close. The tool was to manually close it from the trunk. Barry used the tool to open the closed sunroof and then Barry or I (I don't remember) were able to climb into the car to open the doors! Barry was a car genius even when he was only around 12 years old! He sure saved my butt from getting into even more trouble for locking the doors in the first place!!!
We know you are having an awesome and fun Barry style Christmas with Papa, Aunt Jeanetta, Aunt Janice, our Grandma's and Grandpa's and all of our other dearly passed family and friends...
We sure miss you loads and loads Bear, Love from Dan And Kathy (Christmas 2018)
It's times like tonight when I can't sleep- that I miss you Bro. I knew whatever time of night it was, even though you were in a later timezone, that it was OK to text you. And because of your crazy hours, you'd probably answer! I miss those late night texts!
