Benita Elizabeth Moore has been missing since October 24, 1989.
In an effort to bring temporary closure to our family, we celebrate her life with this memorial website.
We also hope to bring attention to abuse victims, missing persons
and
the struggles and grief faced by the families they leave behind.
Benita is gone but not forgotten.
We will celebrate her life with a memorial service
on November 28, 2009
at Bethlehem Lutheran Church
Gary, IN.

So sorry for the loss of your loved one. I never met Benita or anyone in the family, but I am a survivor of domestic abuse. God Bless you all and know that I and many others care.

Our heartfelt thoughts go out to the entire Moore
family. We will never understand why some things happen in life, but be strong and pray that one day you will meet Benita again.

To my additional family we did so much together on Lincoln Street, at the schools we attended and the trips we took together as neighborhood friends. Benita, thanks for being such a great ANGEL

Words don't seem to be important when you are experiencing such a loss. Just know that when words are no longer enough draw on your faith, it will never fail.

I never met aunt Benita but she sounds like a caring woman. Her pictures are beautiful. Her brother, Robert, who is my dad, shares them with me. I wish I had a chance to meet you.

A Child's Grief

October 28, 2009

A Child's Grief

Lord you care so much
For the tears of a hurting child
Who has felt the grief of tragedy
Now no longer wears a smile

Unable to clearly express
How much he’s hurting inside
Not fully understanding the pain
Nor knowing the reasons ‘why’

He wants so much to reach out
To someone who will listen
Someone that can hold him close
And respond with godly wisdom

For he just needs a grown up
To know what he’s going through
But often we don’t realize his grief
Because we are hurting too

Let him know you care Lord
And will be there when we’re not
The emptiness he feels within
May be filled with you oh God

May he know you as a father
And know you’re by his side
To come and wipe his tears away
When alone he silently cries

Hold him in your arms Lord
So he will be at peace
Allow us all to give him time
In dealing with his grief

For tears may last all night
But joy comes in the morning
So let him grieve throughout the night
For a new day will be dawning
