Visiting in living room

March 15, 2022
Daddy as your birthday has come and almost gone I think of our visits at your house an you sitting in your pink rocking chair.  You would tell me about your day and other news in community and then I would tell you what I did and how the children were doing.  Sometimes I would be talking and you would fall asleep but I would continue talking then in a few minutes you would wake up an act like you never slept.  I would smile at ya an say whatever daddy you fell asleep an you would laugh an tilt your head sideways.  I missss them days and misss you altogether daddy I should have said more to you or never left at the hospital because you were in ventilator when I returned from doing your business for work.  I cherish our memories we shared and love you daddy an happy heavenly birthday ❤️❤️

Traveling to Texas

April 3, 2012

We lived in Texas in the year 1999 and so did my brother Benjie and his family in the town of Plano.  I worked at Target and was blessed by my friends who made me feel so welcome each day and i was pregnant with my daughter Candace Luanne.  I was a stocker and did some lifting but not much but i never told my boss that i was pregnant because i really needed this job.  I told my Dad this and he just laughed and said gripes and said what was i going to do when my time came to have my baby and i said we will deal with that when that comes.  My dad came to Texas to being my son Shawn to me for awhile and he enjoyed his little vacation and we spent some of it with my grandma joyce eakins "white Owl'.  My dad was never one to flit with anyone and when my grandma joyce would tease him he would just smile because he was a quiet man.  I told him that after him and mom got divorced that he should find someone and he said that he would always love my mother no matter what.  I just smiled at him and we went to the pool and the children swam and we just sat together and he was telling me about his work and what was going on in the reservation of Fort Berthold and these memories seem to me just like yesterday and seem so clear and vivid and will always cherish them because they help give me comfort at the times when i miss him and tear up because my heart is saddened that he was taken from me and i depended on him so much.

Family

Benny would always be there when one of his children needed his help or just to listen to whatever was bothering them. Always willing to lend a hand or just to give advice to help them endure their problems and never questioning or criticizing any of his children.
Benny owned a dog named Bear and he was white and i can remember one story that still makes me smile because I lived in Alburquerque, New Mexico, and would always call my dad each night.  An one evening he said that i would not believe what happened and told me that he was cutting Bears hair and that Bear moved and somehow Dad had cut his throat so he wrapped a t-shirt around his neck and drove 56 miles to the vet and Bear ended up getting 26 stitches.  My dad was so upset and could not believe that happened and after that he would always take his dog to the vet to be trimmed.
Bear was such a big part of my dad and when he was hungry would bring a small can and drop it at my dads feet  and that would be probably five or six times a day due to the size of the can.  Also, Benny would throw a ball that Bear knew was his and if you touched that ball than Bear would go to my dad and bark so my dad knew that we were teasing him.  That makes me smile too and such memories that i have of that dog that made a difference in my dad because they were so close.
When we lived in the Village my dad would walk with us to the back hills and we found a circle of rocks and he stated long time ago it was used for ceremonies and told us not to touch it.  One time we were walking and saw some caves and again he said not to enter them because we did not know what was in them and could have animals in them.  We would also go to the lake and swim and use a logg to hang onto and just have the most fun spending family time together.

Life of Benny

March 8, 2012

Benjamin Many Ribs was born March 15, 1940, and his mother was Lulu Four Dance and Father Daniel Many Ribs Sr.  Benny brothers were Norman, Elmer, Harry, and Virgil.  Benny has one sister Rita Olson who still resides in Parshall, North Dakota.  Benny married Wanda White Owl and had four children Lorraine, Benjamin, III, Daniel, and Sheila.  Benny worked throughout his life working for the Three Affiliated Tribes as Game & Fish, Police Officer, and CHR driver which he was still employed at the time of his death.
Benny enjoyed playing Bingo, riding horse, playing basketball, and just spending time with his family and always enjoyed each morning with his Sister Rita who would always make him oatmeal and have coffee with her on a daily basis.
Benny was a hard working man all through his life and made many friends throughout his lifetime.  He was always willing to help in our community and making sure that the Elders were taking care of whether it was taking them to their appointments or just picking up their medications and delivering them to them even after working hours.  I remember after my dad passed and i had individuals coming to our family and saying how they missed him because now they had to go and pick their own medications up. I look back and smile because my dad touched so many people and made such an impact that they still remember him years later.
Benny was always taking time from his busy schedule to spend time with his grandchildren who later on in his life raised as his own Angel Many Ribs and Shawn Price, Jr.  Benny raised Angel and Shawn as his own and passed his family values upon them and to this day they remember their grandpa who took care of them as their own and hold special memories of him.
