Benny Wilson Bennett, Sr., 72, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Duke Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness.

A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Katie Smith Bennett. Benny was a retired tobacco farmer and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Benny was a very loyal and competitive fox hunter and judge, all over the states.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor by Rev. Craig Currin. Burial will follow the service at Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are two daughters, Emily Bennett Moss and husband Gerald, and Christy Love Bennett; a sister, Kate Bennett Brinkley; five grandchildren, Lauren Adcock, J.C. Shelley, Alayna Moss, Karlee Bennett, Haley Franklin and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Benny Wilson Bennett, Jr. and a great- granddaughter, Savannah Lauren Adcock.

Visitation will be held Saturday evening, May 20, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and at other times the home of his daughter, Emily Bennett Moss, 2492 Patton Lane, Franklinton, N.C. 27525.

Jimmy and I are so saddened to hear of Benny's death. We enjoyed many conversations and visits with Benny during our Fox Hunting days.

Benny has been my neighbor for 48 yrs. he went to school with Tommy. Tommy and I have always thought of Benny and will truly miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
