So when I first met Benny, Jackie was living in a basement apartment ...I think it was on Jay street...I could be off, but I remember there was a Baskin Robins and a chinese spot like right up the block...my memory isn't that great anymore, but nonetheless, it was there where I met him. I walk in, He was planted in front of the tv in the livingroom right as you walk in and he was face in / all in front of the tv...watching..'the government channel'...eewww....like the one channel where it's politicians talking all day and you don't see anything else...yea...that channel. He looked up and said 'hi'...those eyes...light brown/hazel...just sucked me right in...then he smiled and I was smitten!!!
I looked at Jackie like, "who watches that channel? is he really watching that?", and she was like, "yup...he's into politics"... Can't lie...always had a crush on Benny...but he never knew it and as the friendship grew between me and Jackie...Benny became like my big brother. He definitely made me laugh, he was an awesome cook, and always said yes to anything I asked of him. Although over these past few years I've been away and hadn't connected with him in a while...I will miss not having the chance to see him again, hug him, or vent to him about the shenanigans in my life. Benny worked hard to turn his life around. He was so so caring, and super honest, and loved his family more than his own life. He was real. Called shit how he saw it and you had to respect him for that. He definitely left us waayyyy too soon. But God calls for his children on his time not ours and I know I will see him again. I love you Benny!! You will be in my heart forever. Thank you for being YOU always! And for blessing us with your presence while you had life to share and give us. Until my eyes see your beautiful eyes and face again.....rest in peace my brother....miss you...love you..
