Her Life

A daughter of the late James, Sr. and Mae Bell Warren Douglas, Mrs. Rucker was born in Yazoo City, MS on November 27, 1936. She was a resident of the Columbus area for many years, and was a former member of Mother Mary Mission Catholic Church where she was very active. She recently joined the membership of Pine Hill Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL. She retired from Civil Services, Ft. Benning, GA following 20+ years of dedicated service as an Accounting Supervisor, and was very active as a lobbyist for the Civil Service Union, as well as, a political activist for various local politicians. She was also an entrepreneur, a member of the Eastern Stars, and an avid bowler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a great grandson, Jeremiah Rucker, and her siblings, Asa L. Douglas, Crissolene Richardson, James Douglas, Jr. and T. J. Douglas.

Survivors include: her children, Patrick D. Rucker and Jacquelyn R. Brown; five grandchildren, Amanda, Katrinia, Nia, Kolby and DeForest; three great grandchildren, Shawn, Jr., Destiny, and Dameion; two sisters, Janie Guy and W. Merline Rouse (Norman); her friend and the father of her children, MSG (Ret) William Rucker; a host of nieces and nephews to include a devoted niece, Pamela Brown; a loving friend, Maggie Nance; other relatives and friends.
