Berthine Jordan was born to Jimmy and Alice Hatcher on February 18, 1942 in College Grove, TN. She moved to Nashville as a young woman to make a life alongside her sweetheart Charles Jackson. Later on, after Charles passed away, she was married to Samuel L. Jordan until his passing in 1996. After years of battling a terminal illness, Berthine passed away on February 9th surrounded by her family. Berthine maintained her love for life and continued to impart that joy to others despite her health challenges.

 As a dedicated employee of Falcon Fabricators for more than 30 years, Berthine was dearly loved by her colleagues and made many lifelong friends, including Roy Rice (and his family) who she viewed as part of her family. Even after she retired, Roy often came by to check in on her, share family updates and to cheer for their team the TN Titans. Because of her sweet, loving and giving personality, both family and friends enjoyed swinging by her home to share coffee, watch Bonanza or shoot the breeze on the front porch. We know that everyone who knew her will miss sweet smile, her soft embrace and warm heart. 

Those left with fond memories to cherish are: daughter Tina Hatcher; "son" Edward (Nikki) Hatcher; stepson Gary Jackson; sister Marie Butler, brothers Albert Hatcher and William Hatcher; grandchildren Mashanda Hatcher, Berthine Hatcher, known as Angie, and Rolethia Hatcher; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In her spare time, Berthine enjoyed spending time with her family more than anything whether it was a large family reunion “down-home” or a small gathering around dinner with a game of Scrabble or Monopoly. She spent time teaching her grandchildren the art of cooking, beating them in backgammon and was always enamored just to have them around. When it was time for any of them to leave, she would always ask, ‘What’s your hurry?” 

 As a life-long Bible reader, she also found great joy in having a weekly Bible Study with her grandson Edward, whom she raised as her own son. She had begun to learn and understand the Bible’s promises of a future free of pain and suffering and the hope of a resurrection on a paradise earth. (John 5:28,29; Rev. 21:3,4) Berthine was so loving, generous and caring and she would go to great lengths to help and care for her family, friends, neighbors and others. She loved others deeply and expressed that love all the time and in countless ways.
