Her Life
June 28, 2011

Bethany was born on February 13, 1988 at 3:33pm. She was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen. She had a head full of dark brown hair and brown eyes. She was such a good baby. She slept all night from the day we brought her home. When she was 5 years old she decided she wanted to play softball. When we signed her up we were told that because of her age she would have to play coach pitch. She was mad because she wanted to play with the big girls. She loved every second of that season so she played every year after that. She was such an amazing short stop and she loved to steal bases. She was so excited when she was going into high school because she had always dreamed of being on the varsity team and later playing in college. Her dream finally came true towards the end of the season her sophomore year and she couldnt wait until the next season. The dream was short lived though because in late January 2005 just a few months before softball season started she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Olfactory Neuroblastoma. Chemotherapy was started immediately and over the next 22 months she endured many rounds of high dose chemo, radiation and a stem cell transplant. You could tell all of that was taking a major toll on her but the smile on her beautiful face never went away. She never felt sorry for herself or said "why me". She was so amazingly strong through it all. She was the one suffering but all she did was worry about how everyone else was doing. Then the day came when she couldnt be strong anymore and was admitted into the hospital. The doctors did scans and tests said there wasnt anything else that they could do. She fought for 11 more days but at 5pm on November 20,2006 my world stopped turning and I lost my beautiful daughter. I miss her so much it hurts. I love you Bethany. My hero, my best friend.
