A Tribute

To

Betty L. Daniele

May 4, 1925 - Jan 29, 2017

Betty Daniele was born in Santa Clara,CAto Paul and Maxine Eipp.  After losing her father at the age of 12, she became highly motivated in everything she did.  Betty graduated from high school early and spent two years in college before deciding to help in any way she could during World War II. She went on to work in the shipyards and quickly learned to be a top notch welder.

She then met the love of her life, Fred Daniele. He was recuperating from injuries sustained in the South Pacific as a Marine. Fred was from Massachusetts and they married in Springfield after a 4 month whirlwind romance.  They were married for 62 years before Fred's death in November of 2006.  Also preceding her in death were her brothers Paul, Jr. and Ron Eipp. Her daughter Nancy passed away from pneumonia in 2009.

Betty lived with her husband in San Rafael Meadows for 30+ years where they raised their 4 children, Jerry, Fred, Jr., Bob, and Nancy.  They moved to Reno for her remaining 30 years.

Besides her 3 remaining sons, Betty leaves 5 grandchildren: David and Jerry Daniele, Jr., Deanna Ramsey, Gina Savala, and Renee Taylor as well as 9 great grandchildren. In addition to her family, Betty had her own guardian angel in the person of Mona Dible.  Thirty-two years younger and full of life Mona exceeded her friendship by always looking out for Betty by taking her to appointments, tournaments, movies, errands, and always being there in time of need. A heartfelt thanks from all of us. Thank you Mona.

Betty was an excellent athlete. In anything to do with sports she would always come out on top.  In bowling, trophy after trophy. In softball, she was captain and the best on the team.  Until her death, she never missed watching a Giant’s game, Warrior's game, or a Forty-Niner’s game.  If you asked her about Buster Posey she could quote every statistic from high school, college, and the pros.  She was an amazing woman.

She also loved gambling at the Peppermill Casino. Even in her ninety's she could sit at a poker machine for hours without getting tired.  Her Casino Host, Kevin Brantner always took care of her.  She and her daughter-in-law Chris Daniele had a very special bond. It was very heartwarming and endearing.  Betty will be greatly missed.

From Lori Daniele:
“A few words regarding the passing of my dear Mom (in-law)” Remembering Betty Daniele.

I am here today to give my words and thoughts regarding a dear women in my life, and even though we did not have the opportunity for a relationship of longevity, the impact she made on my life and heart are immeasurable.

I meet Jerry’s mom about four years ago when I accompanied him on his trip for his high school reunion. He kept telling me to “relax”, but being honest, I was nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs especially when it came time to meet “The Mama”. My nervous apprehensions were immediately put to rest! The out pouring of genuine love and acceptance of not only from his sons and their families, brothers, my sis in law, Chris was amazing. But nothing short of amazing and meaningful was when I first met Betty and she immediately gave me a big hug and said: Welcome.  The rest of the visit was filled with many episodes of “past tales” of her life, her marriage and her family. Family was everything to Betty. Just one of the many qualities she passed on to her own children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. She was always so humbly proud of her family and their accomplishments. Her best, and most endearing quality was her love of life along with her infectious laugh, her warm hugs, and her amazing smile. And later I found out, her passion for pancakes. Yes, I said pancakes. I must have made pancakes for her every morning on this first visit. A year later, I will always treasure the one and only full day we had together, on a more personal level, getting to know her, on the day before he 90th birthday, when I was given the responsibly of keeping her away from all the secret festivities being planned all around her. We had a great morning of shopping at one of her favorite stores: Kohls. Found her some new pretty slippers. Later had lunch at the other Casino, and more wonderful stories, great food, and more laughter. Being “sneaky” was no small feat, as she never missed a trick. She kept fussing that nothing was being done to get ready for the BBQ the next day., and we had all these folks coming over.  I  was happy to know we were all “forgiven” when we opened the door of what she thought was Derby day, to find out it was her surprise birthday!
We have a saying in the south: “it does not matter where you go in life, what you do, or even how much you have. It’s who you have beside you. Not only am I blessed to have a great man beside me (Betty’s son, Jerry) , but the love of his family.  Betty, I am glad you were able to be “beside” me for awhile, but you will always be “beside” me in my heart.

Sharing words sent to the family from my family and our close friends when they learned of the news of Betty.
From Katrina (and James) (Jerry and Lori’s daughter in law, wife of Lori’s son, James)
Lori,

Please let Jerry know that we are praying for him and his family through this difficult time. You, most of all, will know how to help Jerry through this difficult process, and I'm glad you have each other.

Many blessings on you, Jerry, and the Daniele family.

Love,
Katrina

From Frank and Gail Cardiello: (Lori’s old co-worker from Home Depot and close friends with Jerry and Lori)

Deepest Sympathies & Prayers you both.

From Elaine and Steve Rinehardt: (Lori’s cousin from Indiana)

I am so sorry to hear this news. I had not heard about her fall. Unfortunately, as we all know, that is a most tricky thing to overcome when you are older due to complications that come with it. Let Jerry know that our thoughts are with him and his family, as they are with you too. It is nice that you got to know her a little yourself beyond what you knew through Jerry. There are some amazing older people, especially when you hear about their lives and what they have experienced.

Sending you love and hugs.

From Ric Burrous: (Lori’s cousin from Indiana)

Condolences to both you and Jerry. It is always difficult to lose those who have meant so much us in our lives, in ways great and small. I can only hope that once the shock and grief wear off that you both -- and the rest of Jerry's family -- will be able to recall those precious moments again and again. I believe that such memories are truly a way for loved ones to live on. Love you both.

From Tom and Vicki Clark: (Lori’s Aunt and Uncle from Denver)

Dear Lori and Jerry,

This is such hard news to hear even when one has had a long and productive life. I’ve known from your many comments, Lori, how much you loved Jerry’s mom and I also know the great bond between mothers and sons if you’re lucky. Gather those good memories you speak of and keep them close at heart for the sad and lonely times.
We will be thinking of you and all the family as you travel, mingle and celebrate the life of this beloved mother.

With love and hugs,
Vicki and Tom

From Valorie and Charles Cole: (Lori’s cousin in Indiana)
