I first met Betty playing bocce in Crockett.  Who could forget the Fighting Doormats.  Most popular team in town. Before every game she greeted me with a big hug. She graciously hosted dinners at the Bailey home and  we were treated to a private tour of the studio.  I'm gonna miss that girl. ❤

When I met Betty I knew she was the real thing. She was honest. I truly appreciated her stance and felt that I never had to guess what she really meant or worry about my own position. In that open space we met and shared our lives. It was wonderful. After years of running from my Midwest ancestors, I embraced them in Betty. She was tough, reliable, industrious and solid. I found myself enjoying and better understanding so much of what I’d been raised on. Betty inspired – through her love of Clayton, her commitment to family, work and art - and her presence. I love you, Betty
