Betty Jane Crutcher Grady, 95, of Alabaster, Alabama passed away on May 19, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.  Betty is preceded in death by her parents Sidney Shirley Crutcher and Billy Brewer Riggin and her husband, Dr. Robert William Grady, Sr. Betty is survived by her brother, David Riggin,  her children, Leslie Grady Amato, Robert William Grady Jr., Sidney James Grady, and Susan Grady Smith. Betty’s grandchildren were a special part of her life and include, Jay Smith, Ashley Rush, Douglas and Michael Amato, Lisa and Karlie Grady, Anna Catherine and Caroline Grady, and three great grandchildren, Mark and Logan Rush, and Finley Amato. Betty was born on August 22, 1927, in Louisville, Kentucky before moving to Birmingham. She is remembered as adventurous, loving mother, wife, grandmother and friend. Betty and her husband, Robert, were devoted to their family and their church.  She was President of the Women’s Medical Auxiliary. Her hobbies were painting, riding horses and swimming. She spent time with and loved all of her dogs.  To her grandchildren, she was “Mamaw” and she liked to laugh and have fun with them. She loved reading murder mystery books, her artwork, the Lord, and her family.
Betty loved adventure, new experiences and did a lot of volunteer work over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice.  There will be a grave side service held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home on John Hawkins Parkway in Hoover.
