Mrs. Holladay was born Monday, July 22, 1929, in Chambers County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Amy Adell and Clarence Posey Holladay, Sr. .  She was a member of Community Chapel Church of God, Lanett. Mrs. Ison was a nurse for many years at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley, Golden Living Nursing Home in Lanett and retired from East Alabama Nursing Home. She had patients that would not leave or go to appointments unless she was right by their sides every step of the way. Betty Jean was a devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother and a nurse to all.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Gene Ison; her daughters, Amy Sue Hurston and her husband Brent and Beverly Ann Costley and her husband Douglas; her sons, Robert Terrell Jenkins and his wife Janet and Timothy Lee Jenkins and his wife Rose Mary; 6 granddaughters and 1 grandson; 9 great granddaughters and 1 great grandson; her sister, Frances Holladay Simms. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Emma Sue Oliver, Ruth Britton, Jewell Holladay McClure, Mattie V. Cantrell and Hattie Mae Rearden; and her brothers, Owen David Holladay, Heyman Holladay and Clarence Posey Holladay, Jr.
