Posting for my Uncle Bob: ". . . my baby sister . . . a great loss. So many memories of when we were children. . . . If anyone is in heaven, it certainly would be your Mother." (I got a kick out of that last part.)

Grandma, I love you and miss you so much... My heart will forever be broken knowing that I can't pick up the phone to hear your voice. However I know that you are watching me and listening to me from your beautiful mansion in heaven. Please give Grandpa a hug for me and tell God "Hi." .... I Love you more ....

Betty Marie Siles
Resident of San Jose, California
June 5, 1936 – October 15, 2017

Betty left us and went to her homecoming with the Lord on Oct. 15, 2017. As a young child, she made a commitment to Jesus Christ and attended Sunday school in A.W. Tozer’s church in Chicago. Since 1973, she’d been a devoted servant and lover of God. She had been longing to go home to Heaven for many years, although her heart’s desire was to be raptured with the saints of God.  However, we don’t think she’s sad she missed it because she’s in Heaven now!

Betty was born in Chicago, Illinois. She had two older brothers and one younger brother. She overcame a tumultuous childhood to become a generous, loving wife and mother.  Because of her childhood, she had a lifelong passion to love and help hurting people. When the ice cream truck drove through the neighborhood, she would buy popsicles for all the kids, not just her own. Later in life, she would say, “I live to give.”  She also lived to pray. All her loved ones knew that if they called with a problem, Mom’s immediate response was to offer prayer. In effect, her name was synonymous with prayer.

Her passion for people, the Lord, and the Bible turned into a career as a pastor and Healing Team Director. She served as a pastor for Cathedral of Faith from 1979 until shortly before her passing. She taught the same adult Sunday school class for approximately 30 years, endearing her to the hearts of many students.  When Mom entered her assisted living home, we were asked to tell them about her hobbies. They were surprised to learn Mom’s only real hobbies were teaching God’s word and praying for people.

Betty is survived by her daughter Donna Safley (Tom), daughter Judy Sanchez, and son Brian McDermott. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 step- grandchildren:  In addition, she was blessed to have 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Robert Moffatt (Joan).  Preceding her in death was her husband, Eldon Siles, who went on ahead to build her mansion.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Betty’s life on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Cathedral of Faith, San Jose or online condolences may be made at https://www.forevermissed.com/betty-marie-siles/#about.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s name may be made to Cathedral of Faith Reaching Out Food Ministry.

See you soon, Mom! In light of eternity, our separation won't be long at all. I miss you greatly, however, I know you're happy, whole, and kneeling at the feet of Jesus.

Trip to the Grocery Store one day

October 25, 2017

One of my favorite stores about Mom is when one day, her and I were at a Grocery Store and the lady in front of us was smacking her kid around for misbehaving.  It got a little over the top and Mom stopped and said...."Sweetheart, I'm not one to tell people how to take care of their kids, but would it help if I stopped and prayed for you"....At the time, I remember thinking, oh no this is not going to end well....then out of nowhere, this lady said "Yes, you know what, i would appreciate that".  So we paid for our stuff, went through the line and prayed with her....Mom even asked if she had Jesus in her heart and she said no, so Mom asked if she would like to accept Jesus in to her hear and she said Yes.  So Mom continued to pray for the lady and her child.  When Mom was done, the lady cried, hugged and thanked Mom, then cried, hugged and held her child.

That's when I knew for sure that Mom did have a gift, that she really could stop and pray for anyone at any time, any where.

Over the years, he name has become synonomous with Prayer.  I mean, how many people do you know that pray every day and then, how many of those people pray for everyone they know and love and even more off a prayer list?    Mom did....and I will always be very proud of that.

I love you Mom and know you are in the most amazing place in heaven right now.
