Mrs. Sorrell was born in West Point, Georgia, Wednesday, November 27, 1935, the daughter of the late Ruby Gober and Walter Van Houten. She was a member of the Lanett Congregational Christian Church, belonging to the church’s Ruth Ladies Circle Group. Mrs. Sorrell was a 36 year employee of the valley-Times News. She was a member of the Lanett Progress Club, was an avid bowler and loved baking cakes and candies. She loved her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Sorrell was proceeded in death by her husband of 56 years, John Mack Sorrell and is survived by her children, Vic Sorrell of Hickory, North Carolina, Keith Sorrell (Sheri) of Roswell, Georgia and Luann (Myron) West of Loganville, Georgia; and her grandchildren, Suzanne Sorrell, Michelle Sorrell both of Hickory, Sabrina Sorrell, Jack Sorrell both of Roswell and Donovan West of Loganville.
