In Loving Memory of My Dear Sister and Soror, Bettye,
Happy Heavenly Birthday! Sometimes it still does not seem real that
you are gone. I find myself saying, I need to talk with Bettye.
I was always able to just pick up the phone and say hello,
I miss those days. Things are not the same without you here,
My dear sister, I miss you dearly. But today is your day,
A Happy Day, because it is the day you were born.
The same day you became my little sister. I went out for lunch today
with a Soror, at the Ocean One, in your honor. Enjoy, RIP
Say hello to family, friends & Sherman.

Bettye<
You never allowed anyone to know your pain. You always felt that others should mind their business. Although you spoke with an authoritarian voice and people listened, you were simply a good-hearted person.
I am still glad God put you in my life.
All the Best!

Hello my dear sister and best friend,
Happy belated birthday! Sometimes, it is sad to know that you are no longer here. Please know that it is comforting to know that you are in a better place with not pain.  I want to send you a gift, but I know I can’t, so I will just make a wish upon a star that you are happy and please carry my love with you wherever you are now. As for me, I will just keep reminiscing of our great times together and trust me I will carry on... It is so much I want to tell you and get your input; Don't fret, Erma has volunteered to fill-in for you.

Hello my Dear Wonderful Sister and Soror,

Two years ago, on January 7, 2016, it seems like only yesterday that you left us and this world to fulfill your duties in heaven, where a place God had prepared for you. Nevertheless, I wish you were still here. Sometimes when I just want to talk or hangout, I finds myself saying
“I need Bettye”. I was truly blessed to have had a sister like you.
I still miss our talks, vacations, cruises, laughers, you being the bell of the ball at family outings, etc. and your comforting voice.
If my tears could bring you back, I would cry a river. :-)

I found this beautiful poem that says everything I wanted to say that was in my heart.

Again, I miss you Boo!
Your loving sister.

                     God’s Garden
               By Melissa Shreve (Paraphrased)

God looked around his garden and found an empty place
He then looked down upon the Earth and saw your tired face
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest
With the help of his angels they flew you to your heavenly place

Gods garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best
He knew you were suffering, he knew you were in pain
He knew that you would never get well on Earth again

He saw the road was getting rough and the hills too hard to climb
He closed your weary eyelids and whispered “Peace be Thine”
It broke my heart to lose you but you didn’t go alone
For part of me went with you the day God called you home.

Bettye:
I am so very happy to think of the fond memories of you. I solely and truly miss "The Tell It Like It Is, Bettye"; never mincing words. There are very few of you, now. I miss you letting me know when you thought things could be different. Right now, I know you would say,"the meetings are too long and the dues are too high"! Nothing has changed! I will always cherish the fond memories of you. You left an indelible mark, it was meant for me!

Dear my wonderful Soror Bettye, Happy Birthday!

I hope all is very well with you and everyone. As for me, it feels like only yesterday, that we were cruising and having fun with family and friends; yet yesterday is still too long. I really miss you, so much, as if you were still here – that you are just on a long vacation with your husband (Kenneth), tell him, Mom, Dad, AJ, Nathan, family and friends, I said hello. You use to said, that “I am the girl who cannot cry” but I always had enough happy tears and sad tears for the both of us; laughing during the good times and sad during the bad times. I miss us being able to call each other anytime, four and five times a day, especially late at night - spending hours just talking about everything under the sun. As children, being 16 months apart, we were practically joined by the hips, creating our own language that no one knew our conversation but us. We were so unique together and being able to have our own set of friends and our own set of goals, but that did not change the fact that we were sisters and best friends. I always think of you and talk about you, as if, you were still here with us --enjoying life.
Miss you, forever and a day.
Your sister Ann

I will always remember Soror Bettye Burnett McDonald for the gracious soror she was; always "Telling it like it Is"; not mincing words. I will always remember her straightforwardness in telling you if your meetings were too long and if the dues was too high!
I miss you tremendously, "good friend"
