Betty Lee Gladding, daughter of Emma and Harvey Spurrier, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at the age of 86. She is survived by her husband Alfred E. Gladding, her son Charles Gladding, and her daughters, Donna David and Terry Gladding. She took pride in her six grandchildren and in her final years, her pride and joy was her great grandson, Lennon Claremont.
She was blessed with a long and happy marriage to her high school sweetheart that spanned 67 and ½ years. She was an integral part of Al’s success at the FLEXCO Company. She hosted countless social events and retirement parties. As a result, she was the only non-employee to receive a service award from the company.
Betty also contributed over 20 years of volunteer service to The Central Dupage Hospital as the head of their Hostess Services Department. She coordinated meetings between families and their doctors and implemented the program that kept a patient’s loved ones informed of their progress during surgery.
Betty was known for helping others through difficult times by always providing a sympathetic ear. She was a loving wife and mother and she will be greatly missed.

Charlie and I have been thinking about Betty lately and missing her so much. I just made her Sauerbraten recipe that she wrote out for me, and it brought back a lot of memories we will always hold dear.

I think of Betty whenever I see you in church. She was a grand lady. So hard to believe it's been 2 years. My prayers today include you and her. Bless you my friend. Billy
It doesn't seem possible that a year has gone by since Betty joined the angels. Yesterday, another angel joined Betty in Glory. They shared many of the same friends and were members of a very elite book club. I can see Betty greeting Nancy with a smile and a hug.
May God bless you all as you remember Betty and her life with us.
In Christ's love & peace,

We have been out of the country and just recently heard the sad news of Betty's passing. Even though we haven't seen her for many years, we have memories of happy times spent with her and Al at the David's house and going to Sweet Adelines concerts. Keeping you in our prayers.
I was saddened to hear of Betty's passing. May your family find peace in the love she shared for all with her grace and compassion. As a young girl growing up, thru your friendship with my parents Al and Ginny Henke, I admired Betty's impeccable taste, hostess flair and making everyone around her feel at ease. God Bless.

What a hush came over all of us last Sunday when the announcement was made - we felt like we had lost a family member and indeed we have. Betty was such a warm, gracious and loving person. We shall miss her but find comfort in knowing that she is at peace and has risen in glory with our Lord.

The Best Foyers Ever
Happy Birthday, Betty and remembering Foyers. At St. Peter & St. Paul, Foyers is the name designating a collection of small groups that gather monthly for dinner and fellowship. You're usually assigned to a group for about a year. We rotate homes and everyone pitches in a dish. The groups are shuffled periodically, so through the years different folks are assigned to different groups. Betty contended that the group we had one year which included Betty, Al, my husband, me and several other couples, was the "Best Foyers Ever". She would restate that "fact" to me over and over. It was a great group. Betty and Al were always to first to arrive and the last to leave. They insisted on helping set the table or fix the salad and clean-up after everyone else had gone. Knowing how sweet Betty was, she may have told every Foyers group that they were the best group ever. I know she's smiling from heaven... we'll never know the rest of the story. Love you, Linda
