Beverly Ann Buckery was the youngest child born to Frank and Earline Buckery on Dec. 2, 1948. Sadly Beverly departed this earth on April 2, 2020. At the time of her death, we were all grieved because our country was in a national pandemic. We could not visit Beverly in the hospital nor could we have a Homegoing Service due to the pandemic restrictions. This has been a very difficult time for us. Only the immediate family members (10) were able to attend, view and accompany her to her final resting place at PineLawn Cemetery.
This memorial obituary is left in memory on the date of her heavenly anniversary. Beverly, mom, sister, auntie, best friend and Grandma Bev, will forever be in our hearts.
Bev or Bevy, as she was affectionately called, attended Concord Baptist Sunday School. At age 15, Beverly, along with her mother Earline, sister Elaine, and brother Ronald, joined Concord Baptist Church of Christ, under the pastorship of Dr. Gardner C Taylor. Bev. was a faithful member of Concord Baptist Church for 55 years. She later became a member of the Greeters and Golden Circle ministry under the pastorship of Dr. Gary V. Simpson.
Beverly graduated from Washington Irving H.S. She later was employed by MTA for 25 years before retiring.
In 1968, Beverly was blessed with her One and only, daughter Lisa, whom she loved and reared in her Christian faith at Concord Baptist Church of Christ. Beverly was a dedicated and valued parent of the children's Sunday school and Youth choirs in which Lisa was a member.
Beverly was a generous , kind and friendly person, with an infectious smile, that lit up a room. She got along with everyone. Bev loved to talk and would be on the telephone for hours with her longtime BFFs from Marcy Houses, Linda and Shirley. Linda, her sister Mary and Jerry (Mary’s husband) spent many mornings eating breakfast at Lindenwood Diner, followed by an outing, that they called a “meeting”, (Wink).
Beverly grew up with strong family values, instilled in her by her mother, grandmother, and other women in her life. They taught her that God was first, family second and everything else will work together for God’s purpose. During the summer, Grandma Liza took her fishing in the Rockaways. Her Aunties took her on many Bus Rides and picnics where she developed a love for traveling.
Beverly became a world traveler. She traveled to at least 4 continents and several countries, She either flew, cruised, or went on many of her road trips with her daughter Lisa. She enjoyed her Mexican Villa retreat in Cancun annually. Her travels had taken her throughout the United States, on Alaskan, Caribbean Islands, and European Cruises, as well as a South African Safari.
Bev enjoyed her retirement immensely. She loved to go to the theatre , movies ,fishing at Montauk and dining out with her sister Elaine and brother Ronald. Family was very important to Bev. She looked forward to our annual 4th of Jul picnics and gatherings.
Beverly was always on the move. She truly loved and enjoyed life to the fullest She was a member of several Adult Senior Centers, ( Vandalia, Penn Wortman, Tilden, Van Dyke, Pink Houses, Fort Greene, and Riverway). Each Center offered Bev something different. She did her arts and crafts, played Kings Corners, and especially loved Line dancing. She went on many bus rides with the center and her neighbors. Beverly met two friends at the senior center, Jeanette and Gloria. They were later given the name and called themselves the “Golden Girls”.
On June 22, 2019, Bev gave her daughter Lisa a grand 50th Birthday and Graduation party at Antun’s Banquet Hall. She was so proud of her accomplishments. She danced like it was 1999. This event was one of the most memorable moments that she shared with friends and family.
“Ma,” was an imperfect yet perfect mother to me. We had an extraordinary love and friendship. We were close in our own way and shared every day together. Our term of endearment was that no matter what, she was my best friend and someone I could always depend on. We affectionately called each other, “my one and only and Ride or die.” She was also a mother figure to my friends as well as an auntie, Ma Bev and grandma Bev, to Joi, Sterlynn , DeAnna, Keyshawn, and Ciayni, and a host of others over the years.
Beverly, knew how to live a wonderful and purpose-driven life. She was full of laughter and was known for her fun-loving character. Bev. touched the hearts of many that she encountered. She had a loving heart. She especially loved the Lord, attending and participating in her church's ministry. Bev believed that life is meant to live. She didn't wait until her retirement to enjoy the fruits of her labor.
For God is the Author and Finisher of our faith, knowing the time and season to call Beverly home. In 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 "Therefore
we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8We are confident,
I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. She is now absent from the body and present with the Lord. Beverly left us to live with very precious memories: her one and only,

Thank you for your unconditional love "Ma," I will miss your humor, talks and life lessons.I don't have any regrets between us except, I wish that you could be here, a little while longer. Besides Jesus, “You are the best thing that ever happened to me.”
Love always, Your One and Only
Lisa
