Her Life
June 16, 2015

Ms. Mable graduated from Lanett High School in 1959. After High School, she attended Opelika Business College and eventually headed to Atlanta where she worked for a number of years with a car dealership and bank while again forging many friendships and adventures along the way. Ms. Mable married in 1964 and moved to California where she started her new family.

Ms. Mable eventually returned to “the Valley” in the late 1960s where she lived and worked for a long time. She was with First National Bank (now Capital City Bank) in West Point, GA, for 32 years before her retirement. She started as a teller at First National, but for most of her career was a bookkeeper and later a supervisor over the bookkeeping department. During this time, Ms. Mable also owned and operated MacDrewsky’s, a restaurant and bar in Valley, AL., which she sold in the 1990s. After a “short” retirement from First National, during which time she spent a great time with her daughter in Atlanta, Ms. Mable joined Farmers & Merchants Bank in LaFayette, AL, as a bookkeeper. She then retired for a second time due to medical reasons resulting from an autoimmune condition called Myasthenia Gravis. However, that did not stop her from enjoying life, having new and different adventures, and making many new friends along the way.

Ms. Mable enjoyed many things, including dining out with friends, traveling and spending time with her daughter and friends, playing Bingo, reading, listening to music of all kinds, spoiling her grand-dogs, and watching University of Alabama football. Ms. Mable will be remembered for many things, but especially for her sense of humor, courage, bravery, and tenacity. She will be missed very much by all of those who had the opportunity to know her during her lifetime.

She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Pamela Mable of Avondale Estates, GA (and her six grand-dogs, Sissy, Coco, Remy, Mindy, Molly and Sadie).

Ms. Mable is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Linda Jenkins of Valley, AL; her nieces and nephews, Carla and Wayne Blatt of Opelika, AL, and Jenny and Michael Smith of Beulah, AL; great nieces and nephews, Zach and Kristin Blatt of Auburn, AL, Tanner Blatt of Opelika, AL, Patrick Pigg of Valley, AL, and Whitleigh Bright of Valley, AL; her aunt, Rudean Champion of Tucker, GA; her “grandchildren” Chloe, Julian and Atty Finley of Greenville, SC, and God-grandson, Rudolph (“Ru”) Riley Stiles of Atlanta, GA; and many cousins. Besides her family, Ms. Mable leaves behind numerous friends, many of whom were like family.
